You’ll work closely with our Development, QA, and Engineering teams to ensure smooth releases, optimize performance, and keep our systems running efficiently.
This is a collaborative role where you’ll not only take ownership of your assigned product lines, but also contribute to knowledge-sharing across the broader DBA team. You’ll become a trusted expert and a key part of a high-performing data operations team.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Take full ownership of DBA tasks for specific Daxko product lines
- Monitor, tune, and maintain production and development SQL Server environments
- Manage database user access, roles, and permissions
- Design and optimize schemas, indexes, and other database objects
- Oversee backup and recovery processes to ensure business continuity
- Collaborate with Engineering and QA teams to support smooth and performant product releases
- Import/export data across systems as needed to support business operations
- Troubleshoot customer-related database issues in partnership with Technical Services
- Participate in database maintenance activities and on-call rotations
- Configure and maintain failover clustering and high availability setups
- Support server upgrades, migrations, and security patches
- Proactively contribute to team knowledge sharing and cross-product learning
- Provide input and support for incident resolution and post-mortems when database-related issues occur

- Deep understanding of SQL Server internals—including indexing, statistics, tempdb behavior, and transaction log management
- Skilled in analyzing and optimizing complex SQL queries using execution plans, Query Store, and SQL Profiler to improve performance and scalability
- Experience managing SQL Server in cloud environments, particularly SQL Azure, AWS RDS for SQL Server, or hybrid cloud/on-prem setups
- Proficient in working with 2–3 relational database technologies (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, AWS Aurora) with a primary focus on SQL Server
- Available for on-call rotations, including occasional nights and weekends for high-priority database incidents or maintenance
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional, team-oriented environments supporting application developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams
- Highly self-directed with strong initiative to own and drive SQL Server-related projects (e.g., migrations, upgrades, disaster recovery planning)
- Excellent attention to detail when performing database changes, deployments, or writing T-SQL scripts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document procedures and communicate database issues to technical and non-technical audiences
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in SQL Server and emerging cloud-based database solutions
Required Education and Experience:
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA, including experience with MySQL and/or AWS Aurora as secondary technologies
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience working specifically with SQL Server in enterprise-scale environments
