VetsEZ is currently seeking a SQL Database Administratorβ―to join a team to support a project with the Department of Veterans Affairs. The position will support the Data Migration & Syndication effort within the Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRM-IO).
The candidate must reside within the continental US.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of SQL, structured, and unstructured data within the HSP technology stack β currently Azure β ensuring robust architecture, scalability, and high availability.
- Install, configure, and maintain database systems including SQL Server, Azure SQL, Synapse, and file-based semi-structured data formats.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high levels of data availability, integrity, and security.
- Merge and consolidate databases
- Implement and manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Ensure database security, including user roles, access controls, and encryption.
- Diagnose and resolve database access and performance issues.
- Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as tuning, patching, and upgrades.
- Develop, manage, and test database recovery plans and procedures. Maintain documentation of database configurations, processes, and service records.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users, developers, and other IT staff.
- Work closely with the development team to optimize database design and support application development.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or other Engineering or technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience using Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), ERWIN or similar tools to automate, monitoring, design, or data mapping functions.
- Create database and file structures to include definitions of file characteristics, file layouts, data dictionary entries, and file indices for each subsystem
- Develop new logical and physical data models to accommodate data storage and analysis needs of various data warehousing and analysis projects.
- Strong understanding of database management systems, OLAP (online analytical processing), ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) framework, and a proven track record of working with large datasets are a must.
- Knowledge of database architecture, administration, and security for on-premise and cloud-hosted database systems.
- Communicate and lead effectively detailed technical discussions and develop and present required briefing materials to ensure the customerβs needs are met.
- Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Mongo, Azure Data Bricks, Varigence BimlStudio, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, Spark etc.
- Experience in the VA or other federal organizations desired.
- Experience with Data Migration and Data Syndication within the VA desired.
- Ability to obtain a Government clearance.
