Location : Leeuwarden( Hybrid/Remote options available)Duration : 3+months (Part-time or Full-time)

Department : Sustainability Research

2x Internship Opportunities Available, with opportunity to start early/immediately

Internship Commitment : 24 to 32 hours per week part-time or 40 hours per week full-time, ideally distributed across all five working days (e.g., a few hours each weekday) with at least 1 day per week being in our Leeuwarden Hub

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Sustainability Research Intern to join our Research team. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of sustainability and technology, with a focus on digesting corporate sustainability reports and contributing to the development of data-driven insights. You will have the chance to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge sustainability technology while deepening your understanding of regulatory frameworks and corporate reporting.

You will also support the team in monitoring ESG trends, industry best practices, and emerging sustainability shifts to ensure relevant and timely insights. You will produce actionable insights and recommendations related to sustainability, supporting our content and communications programme.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will support our ESG intelligence platform by helping to track and analyse corporate disclosures. Your work will involve:

  • Collect and analyse data from sustainability reports to identify key trends, challenges, and opportunities for businesses
  • Support the development of insights and recommendations based on the data analysis
  • Collaborate with the technology and research teams to improve the integration of sustainability data into internal tools and platforms
  • Contribute to internal reports and presentations summarising key findings

The role is ideal for someone who enjoys structured tasks, close reading, and contributing to high-impact sustainability analysis. It involves detailed and repetitive work, but plays a crucial part in powering ESG insights for leading companies worldwide.

  • Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to digest and summarise complex information

  • Interest in corporate sustainability and ESG regulations (knowledge of CSRD is a plus)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with data analysis tools is a plus

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a passion for sustainability and technology

  • University student (academic year 202626), living in the Netherlands(for example our local partner Campus Fryslรขn, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen)

  • First-hand experience in sustainability reporting and regulatory analysis

  • Exposure to leading sustainability and ESG frameworks

  • Professional networking opportunities within the sustainability and technology sectors

  • You will receive a monthly allowance to support your expenses during the internship
