Job Description

CD PROJEKT is looking for an experienced Tax Expert to join our Boston-based Finance team. In this cross-functional role, you’ll partner with teams across the U.S., Canada and Poland to guide the company through complex tax matters, with a strong focus on tax incentives and innovation grants. You’ll be the go-to subject matter expert for federal and state income taxes, R&D incentives, payroll taxes and regulatory changes—playing a key part in how we structure, document, and optimize our operations from both a financial and compliance perspective. This is a high-impact individual contributor role ideal for someone who enjoys both strategic thinking and hands-on execution in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and apply tax law, particularly in areas related to income tax and R&D incentives.
  • Analyze contracts, agreements, and corporate documents to assess tax obligations and mitigate risk.
  • Prepare tax documentation, including responses to tax authority inquiries, audit materials, and expert opinions.
  • Own the payroll tax compliance process and support internal payroll team by researching and addressing any inquiries from state revenue agencies
  • Independently lead projects: setting timelines, coordinating with global teams, and managing deliverables.
  • Monitor and advise on tax law changes and their implications for the business.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual tax provisions.
  • Identify and support R&D activities eligible for tax incentives or grants.
  • Help to optimize business structures and strategies from the perspective of taxation.
  • Prepare annual R&D tax credit calculations and maintain supporting documentation.
  • Work with various local and state government entities to identify and pursue additional non-R&D incentives both in the United States as well as Canada.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Finance, Legal, HR, Accounting, and Game Production.
  • Provide training and guidance to internal teams on tax matters.
  • Continuously seek ways to improve tax-related processes, documentation practices, and cross-team workflows.
  • Work in conjunction with internal tax teams to ensure compliance across any cross border transactions within the capital group.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional experience in tax, finance, or grant advisory roles.
  • Deep expertise in income tax regulations, particularly in relation to tax credits and innovation grants.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification.
  • Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to independently assess complex tax scenarios.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and the ability to navigate financial records.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly, persuasively, and respectfully across teams and cultures.
  • Experience managing projects from planning to execution.
  • Comfortable balancing day-to-day execution with strategic thinking.
  • Self-starter who thrives in a cross-functional, international environment.

Nice to Have

(Please note these skills are not required to apply to the position)

  • Experience working in the gaming, tech, or creative industries.
  • Familiarity with Polish tax law or international tax frameworks.
  • Experience with U.S. and Canadian grant institutions or funding bodies.
  • Background in providing internal tax training or mentorship.
  • Proficiency in relevant tax or finance tools (SAP, Microsoft Dynamic).
  • Basic knowledge of incentives programs.

Additional Information

This job can be hybrid/in-office from Boston or fully remote from the USA (eastern time zone preferred).

Health & Well-being

  • Company paid medical healthcare (dental vision & mental).
  • Paid Leave — 20 days of holiday for every team member per year (26 days after two years).
  • No dress-code — we like to keep it casual.
  • Retirement with employer matching.

  • Trainings, lectures and courses — internal workshops, knowledge-sharing initiatives, online tutorials, and e-learning classes are all available. There’s always something to learn!
