Job description

About DECA Games

We believe that games should be played for decades but many are abandoned even when a loyal community is screaming to keep them alive. DECA specializes in acquiring games from other developers and reinvigorating them to continue to entertain for decades. When other studios see an old game, we see a fantastic set of problems to solve and a huge opportunity.

DECA is a remote company with over 300 people in over 30 countries globally. DECA is also a part of the Embracer Group, the largest public gaming company in Europe.

About our culture

We’ve managed to maintain a small company feel with the stability and resources of a much larger one. We fully believe in the flexibility of a remote workplace. Team members are trusted to manage their time and get things done independently. We think that egos and politics need to be checked at the virtual door, which means that no job is too small for anyone, and a willingness to help and learn from each other is required. We love the challenge of working within constraints and love when we succeed as a team. Check out more about us and our values on our website (www.decagames.com).

This is a remote position and open to candidates located anywhere in Germany.

About the role

We are currently looking for a Legal Working Student (Werkstudent) to join our international team and support our in-house Legal Counsel. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on legal experience in the dynamic and fast-paced gaming industry.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preliminary review of contracts such as NDAs, service agreements, and licensing terms.
  • Perform legal research on topics including intellectual property, consumer protection, GDPR/data privacy, and digital law relevant to the gaming industry.
  • Assist with contract management, including organizing templates, tracking signatures, and maintaining the contract database.
  • Help review terms of service, privacy policies, and other player-facing legal documents.
  • Monitor and report on legal and regulatory updates that may affect Deca’s operations across various jurisdictions.
  • Participate in the review of marketing and user acquisition materials for legal compliance (e.g. ad guidelines, disclosures).
  • Take on ad hoc tasks and projects as needed by the Legal Counsel — no two weeks are exactly the same!

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a law program in Europe, preferably in Germany, ideally in your 6th semester.
  • Prior working experience in a legal, business, or tech environment is a plus.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills, with the ability to understand and summarize complex legal topics.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken — English is our primary working language.
  • German and/or Chinese language skills are a plus.
  • High level of attention to detail, reliability, and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote setting, with proactive communication and strong time management skills.

Benefits

  • A remote-first setup with flexible working hours to suit your academic schedule
  • A friendly, open, and international team culture in the ever-evolving gaming industry.
  • Online language classes: English, German, French, Spanish etc.
  • Working in a multicultural environment with people from over 30 different countries.
  • Flat hierarchies with an open-door policy.
