The Team:

We started with a small group of experienced engineers and the team has significantly increased in size to a team of 30+ with plans to continue to grow.  The team was formed to execute on Clear Street’s growth strategy of expanding our products and services to reach more asset classes and geographies. We work closely with engineering and product teams based in New York.

Members of the team have the unique opportunity to be part of a growth journey, building a technology stack from scratch, and making a big impact on the financial market. In this role, an individual will work in conjunction with team members in Sweden and NY to build applications for our Securities Finance and Futures businesses, the Execution Management, Risk as well as Custody and Clearing systems.

The Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced senior software engineer to join our Swedish Engineering team. You will play an important role in building up the technological backbone of Clear Street. In this role you will work closely with our business partners, build and design new solutions, and support the current business.

As we continue to build the team we are looking for full stack engineers, however, we are open to either back-end, front-end engineers, or dev-ops engineers that have some exposure and a desire to work end-to-end across projects.  We build both the client side, to ensure usability and easy navigation,  and the server side elements such as data storage, security and overall performance.

You Bring:

  • At least five (5) years or more of hands-on professional experience designing and developing mission critical distributed systems with high requirements on performance, resiliency and consistency.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Financial Engineering or a related field.
  • Good understanding of the financial markets, the different asset classes and the unique technical requirements in building financial systems.
  • The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, self-starter with a passion for technology and the ability and desire to learn new skills. They will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be able to deliver results with minimal supervision.
  • Experience from prioritization between technical and business tasks, balancing the long and short term business benefits with technical debt and developer productivity.
  • Experience in troubleshooting system performance and take corrective action as necessary.
  • Experience in supporting and running systems in a production environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Tech Stack:

  • Required experience in Java and Typescript/Javascript
  • Preferred, but not required, experience in Clear Street technology Stack: Golang, Python, React,  AWS, Kubernetes, gRPC, Protobuf, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Redis, Docker, While the experience with these technologies is not necessary, readiness to learn this stack is required.
