We’re looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our Cloud Infrastructure Engineering team  based in Athens.

As a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer reporting to the VP of Infrastructure, you will play a key role in architecting, implementing, and optimizing our AWS Cloud environment. This position provides the opportunity to lead automation initiatives and promote Site Reliability Engineering best practices across the organization. You will collaborate with an experienced DevOps oriented team, applying your expertise to ensure the scalability, security, and performance of the cloud systems that power our product suite.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Cloud Engineer (DevOps/SRE), you will:

  • Lead the design, deployment, monitoring, and optimization of our AWS Cloud infrastructure.
  • Architect and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using tools such as CloudFormation, ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Drive automation of operational tasks using scripting and AWS orchestration services (e.g. Bash, Python, Step Functions).
  • Participate in the team’s on-call rotation, taking ownership of incident response and providing expertise in resolving complex issues.
  • Partner with developers to design and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, AWS CodeDeploy) for reliability and efficiency.
  • Build, evolve, and maintain internal tooling to streamline engineering workflows and improve developer productivity.
  • Define and monitor system performance metrics, lead incident response efforts, and oversee postmortem processes to drive long-term improvements.
  • Troubleshoot production systems at scale, offering deep technical guidance and serving as a subject-matter expert across teams.
  • Champion best practices in documentation, knowledge sharing, and operational excellence across the organization.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering their technical growth and professional development.

To be successful in this Senior Cloud Engineer (DevOps/SRE) role, you should have:

  • 2+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or SRE roles, with a proven track record of managing production-grade systems.
  • Deep expertise in AWS cloud services and strong proficiency with Linux-based systems.
  • Strong skills in scripting and programming (e.g. Python, Bash) and experience building automation at scale.
  • Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and modern development workflows (CI/CD).
  • Hands-on experience architecting, implementing, and maintaining modern AWS cloud infrastructure, with a focus on scalability, security, and resilience.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex systems and the ability to drive initiatives independently while mentoring less experienced engineers.
  • A collaborative mindset with proven success working across cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a focus on operational excellence, performance, and reliability.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence technical discussions and document solutions effectively.
  • Availability to work in a hybrid setup with 2–3 days per week in our Athens office.

Nice to have

  • Deep experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g. ECS, EKS, Kubernetes).
  • Expertise with infrastructure-as-code frameworks such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or Pulumi, including designing reusable modules and enforcing best practices.
  • Proven track record building and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using platforms like GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
  • Strong background with observability stacks (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch) and the ability to design effective monitoring, alerting, and logging strategies.
  • AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect or similar).

The most important thing we offer is a safe and healthy professional environment, giving you the opportunity to work on products that positively impact millions globally. Become part of Epignosis, a diverse group of smart, fun, and GIF-loving professionals in offices worldwide, including the U.S., the U.K., Greece, and Cyprus!
