Location: Shenzhen ( Flexible) - This role requires proximity to an office location with the flexibility to work from home.
What You Will Do
- Work on GoPro JDM projects including camera manufacturing firmware or accessory product firmware.
- Evaluate firmware feasibility, resource, and schedule for JDM camera or accessory projects.
- Document and provide specifications related to firmware
- Lead partners’ firmware team to evaluate, design, bring up, develop, and deliver JDM products.
- Review partners’ FW and FWQA deliveries including coding, firmware release, documents, issues test report, NRE, etc.
- Organize regular or instant meetings with partner teams (FW/EE/Ops/PM/etc.) or GoPro internal teams (FW/PM/EE/Ops).
- Communicate with GoPro cross-functional teams (FW/PDM/EE/PM/Audio/IQ/RF/Ops/etc.) for technical discussion or manufacturing issues related to firmware.
- Support the troubleshoot and debugging of critical issues from team.
- Necessary traveling to partners’ companies/factories to support each engineering phase (Proto/EVT/DVT/PVT/MP).
Skills We’re Excited About
- MS or BA in electrical engineering or equivalent 15+ years firmware work experience in firmware development.
- 3+ years’ experience in leading ODM/JDM projects for firmware development
- Hands-on expertise with embedded system architecture
- Strong proficiency in C programming language, and Good at python, shell, C++, and ARM assembly programming language.
- Experience in Bluetooth and BLE Audio firmware development
- Experience in camera firmware and manufacturing firmware development
- Confortable with firmware OS like Linux, FreeRTOS, Thread-X, T-kernel, and others.
- Proficient in battery charge/discharge management, PD2.0/3.0 protocol, BC1.2 protocol, fast charge, etc.
- Proficient in 32-bit ARM MCUs and their general interface and control like STM32, Microchip, etc.
- Proficient in communication interface and protocol such as Type-C, I2C, SPI, UART, 1-wire, USB, etc.
- Familiar in audio interface, protocol, and knowledge like I2S, DAC/ADC, AWE, DSP, process pipeline, etc.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin in both speaking and writing.
- Self-driven management for supporting multiple projects
Bonus Points For
- Experience in USB device/host product development
- Experience in camera architecture and image calibration
- Experience in Amba/Qualcomm camera platform
- Gimbal product firmware development
