OVERALL PURPOSE

Lula is seeking an experienced and motivated Business Banking Team Lead to provide strategic and operational leadership to the Business Relationship Banking team. In this role, you will lead a team of Business Relationship Bankers who manage a portfolio of high-value Premium Banking and Funding clients. This role entails mentoring the team to acquire new clients and build strong, value-adding relationships to provide excellent service and recommendations on Lula products.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Business Relationship Bankers to ensure they consistently meet and exceed performance targets, including revenue growth and client retention.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the portfolio of high-value Premium Banking and Funding clients.
  • Oversee the prospecting and onboarding of new clients, ensuring a timely and seamless process.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex client issues, assisting the team in building and maintaining long-term, value-adding relationships with premium business clients.
  • Guide the team in using market trend analysis and client behavior insights to provide tailored strategic recommendations and financial solutions.
  • Collaborate with relevant teams and stakeholders to ensure a smooth underwriting and onboarding process that exceeds client expectations.
  • Monitor team performance to ensure high client satisfaction scores are consistently achieved.
  • Ensure the team effectively identifies opportunities for cross-selling and upselling Lula products by proactively analysing clients’ business needs and financial objectives.
  • Work with the sales support team to ensure they are equipped to support the Business Relationship Bankers in their portfolio management.
  • Ensure the team’s full compliance with internal standards, regulations, and legislative requirements.

THE EXPERIENCE & SKILLS WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Grade 12 achieved.
  • Relevant qualification in business, finance, or a related field is desirable.
  • 3+ years of experience in a sales, customer experience or business banking role, with a proven track record of managing high-value accounts.
  • At least 3+ years of experience in a team leadership or management position.
  • Proven ability to manage and mentor a team in a fast-paced, omni-channel environment.
  • Experience working with CRM systems (Zendesk preferred).
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance in the banking sector.
  • Advanced analytical skills (Excel proficiency is a must).
  • Good sales and negotiation skills, enabling the drive of team performance and securing favorable outcomes for both clients and Lula.
  • A resilient, adaptable, and hands-on team player who is focused on driving outcomes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
