Investment Analyst

Job description

Company Description

NEDGEX is the innovation and corporate-venturing arm of the NETZSCH Group, focused on building and investing in early-stage B2B deep-tech ventures. Its mission is to empower entrepreneurs by combining startup agility with NETZSCH’s global industrial expertise. Through venture building and strategic investments in areas like advanced materials, energy, AI, process analytics, and sustainability, NEDGEX helps develop long-term, high-impact technologies.

Job Description

As a Investment Analyst, you will play a central role in evaluating startup opportunities, analyzing financial performance, and guiding strategic investment decisions. Your work will directly influence which ventures NEDGEX builds, funds, or acquires.

Qualifications

  • Analyze data rooms, financial statements, and business plans of early-stage and growth-stage startups.
  • Build, audit, and refine financial models — including ratio analysis, assumptions checks, and scenario modeling.
  • Identify red flags, unrealistic assumptions, and deviations from industry benchmarks.
  • Develop best-case / base-case / worst-case scenarios and calculate exit proceeds.
  • Perform commercial and financial due diligence in close alignment with our venture architects.
  • Summarize insights into clear, executive-ready memos and investment recommendations.
  • Conduct competitor research, market sizing, and benchmarking.
  • Support cap table modeling and valuation work for venture builds and acquisitions.
  • Maintain independent, structured workflows with regular feedback loops rather than relying on predefined tasks.

Must-Haves

  • Strong experience in financial modeling (Excel-heavy workflows). → You work predominantly with keyboard shortcuts; speed and precision are essential.
  • Excellent analytical judgment: you can look at numbers and immediately see what stands out.
  • Experience in M&A, VC, investment banking, FP&A, strategy consulting, or corporate development.
  • Strong command of English (daily working language).
  • Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results without micromanagement.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience analyzing early-stage startup financials.
  • Comfort working with incomplete data and turning ambiguity into structured analysis.
  • Familiarity with SaaS metrics, deep-tech business models, or hardware-software hybrids.
  • Experience with due diligence processes or interacting with founders.
  • Not afraid of Windows — Excel speed matters. (If you’re only on a Mac, convince us!)
