QA Lead - Engine

🇬🇧 United Kingdom - Remote
🔍 QA🟣 Senior

Job description

At Engine by Starling, we are on a mission to find and work with leading banks all around the world who have the ambition to build rapid growth businesses, on our technology.

Engine is Starling’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) business, the technology that was built to power Starling Bank, and two years ago we split out as a separate business.

Starling has seen exceptional growth and success, and a large part of that is down to the fact that we have built our own modern technology from the ground up. This SaaS technology platform is now available to banks and financial institutions all around the world, enabling them to benefit from the innovative digital features, and efficient back-office processes that has helped achieve Starling’s success.

As a company, everyone is expected to roll up their sleeves to help deliver great outcomes for our clients. We are an engineering led company and we’re looking for someone who will be excited by the potential for Engine’s technology to transform banking in different markets around the world.

Hybrid Working

About the Role

We’re looking for someone to lead our QA function, you will perform both functional and non-functional testing of our mobile and web applications, ensuring that they perform as expected and they meet our very high standards. We are looking for someone who will advocate for testing throughout the lifecycle of the product and who takes pride in ensuring we are releasing good quality software that helps our customers.

In this role, you’ll work with our engineers to enhance our test-driven development approach to building applications. At Engine, we spend our time building products that we’re really proud of. We focus on the experience, often delivering things with real polish but sometimes making a fast strategic move. We think being good at product requires clear communication, a sense of focus, and to challenge the conventional ways of doing things. We’re open-minded when it comes to hiring, we care more about skills and attitude than specific experience or qualifications.

  • Experience automating E2E user journeys - ideally with mobile applications, at Engine we QA mainly use Maestro.

  • Able to analyse risk, severity, and impact of issues identified and work with the wider team to prioritise and resolve them.

  • Maintain an adaptable, pragmatic approach to testing; switching modes to meet the needs of the company.

  • Good understanding of user experience best practices and UX testing

  • Experience in managing, mentoring and knowledge sharing with team members.

Nice to have

  • Experience in banking/fintechs.
  • Experience working in a SaaS company with scale.
