Are you bready* for a change?

As a Senior Engineering Manager on Toast’s 3rd Party Ordering team, you will lead a high-visibility group building seamless integrations that connect thousands of restaurants with popular delivery platforms and ordering services. You will develop your teams’ expertise in API design, real-time synchronization, and high-volume transaction processing. You will align your team’s work with Toast’s mission of empowering the restaurant community through unified commerce solutions. You bring deep technical understanding of distributed systems and integration patterns, with the experience to guide architectural decisions that ensure reliability at scale. You are product-minded, building strong partnerships with PM and UX to optimize the ordering experience for both restaurant operators and their customers, while collaborating effectively with platform partners and internal Toast teams.

About this roll \* (Responsibilities)

  • Drive delivery of critical integrations with third-party ordering platforms, including roadmap planning and execution to expand Toast’s partner ecosystem
  • Collaborate closely with PM and UX to define seamless order flow experiences that minimize friction for restaurant staff managing multiple ordering channels
  • Partner with stakeholders across Toast’s platform, payments, and operations teams to ensure smooth data synchronization and unified reporting for multi-channel orders
  • Oversee end-to-end reliability of ordering integrations, including real-time monitoring of API health, order accuracy, and partner platform incidents
  • Guide the team’s approach to integration testing, API versioning, and maintaining compatibility across diverse third-party systems
  • Recruit and onboard engineers with expertise in API design, event-driven systems, and restaurant technology ecosystems
  • Coach engineers on building scalable integration architectures and handling complex distributed system challenges
  • Champion the use of AI tools and practices to accelerate development, improve team velocity, and pioneer new ways of building - setting the bar for what it means to be an AI-first engineering organization.

Do you have the right ingredients* ? (Requirements)

  • Experience managing teams owning high visibility, high complexity software
  • Experience writing, delivering, and operating software in a SaaS environment
  • Experience mentoring and developing successful teams
  • Experience deeply collaborating with PM and UX partners
  • Strong technical background that you use to guide your team’s decisions and plans
  • A desire to build a diverse team that wins together and prioritizes customer success
