About the role

We are seeking a talented and ambitious Partner Account Executive with experience partnering with health insurance brokers.  This is a full partner sales cycle role with new business bookings targets under our Betterment at Work business line.

This person will focus on building strategic referral partnerships with health insurance brokers.  This person is responsible for generating qualified pipeline through and co-selling deals with partners to hit bookings targets.  This Partner Account Executive will report to and collaborate closely with the Head of Partner Sales.

This role is remote eligible, NYC preferred. For jobs based out of our NYC HQ, we require in office attendance Tuesday through Thursday, weekly.

Below we’ve reflected the base salary range we would offer for this position. The actual compensation offered will be based on candidate experience and performance. The range listed is just one component of Betterment’s total compensation package for employees.

  • New York City: $110,000 - $120,000 + Commission

This job is eligible for variable compensation in the form of a commission bonus.

A day in the life

  • Activate new and assigned health insurance brokers to drive meaningful sales outcomes
  • Develop strong, trusting relationships with partners across all customer-facing role levels to maximize lead flow
  • Own the full partner sales cycle from lead generation to prospecting to close stages as strategic seller
  • Manage pipeline in Salesforce to ensure forecast accuracy on both monthly and quarterly basis
  • Master Betterment product offering and understand our marketplace trends and competitor landscape to deliver tailored sales presentations
  • Close business to meet and exceed bookings targets
  • Leverage Betterment’s sales tech stack to create process efficiencies
  • Travel (25%) required for industry, vertical, and partner-related events and meetings

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years of partner sales experience, particularly in B2B SaaS and health insurance broker adjacent industries, i.e., payroll/HCM, retirement services, general agencies, etc.)
  • Proven track record of exceeding bookings targets (top 10% of sales orgs)
  • Previous experience managing, activating, and co-selling with health insurance partners required
  • Rolodex of health insurance partners and contacts preferred
  • Curiosity and interest in financial products and retirement planning with retirement industry experience a plus
  • Desire to build a new business vertical, iterating on processes and collaborating with direct and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to thrive in fast paced environment
  • High energy and self-motivated with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • SPICED or similar sales framework experience required
  • Experience with Betterment sales tech stack a plus, i.e., Salesforce, Outreach, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Sendoso, Gong, ChatGPT, etc.

What happens next

In the interview process, we’ll look to learn more about your skills, experiences, capabilities, and motivators. Many of our questions will be aimed at understanding how you might operate here at Betterment. Depending on the role, we may ask you to complete a case study exercise or technical assessments, as we want to collect a robust set of data points to better inform our decisions.

On average, it takes us around 3-5 weeks to make a hiring decision, depending on your availability and sense of urgency. As a best practice, we aim to interview at least 2-3 final round candidates before making a hiring decision.
