AI Automation Engineer III

Remote Location: Seattle, WA or Washington, DC

Position Summary

HackerOne is seeking an AI Automation Engineer III on our Enterprise Data & AI team. As an AI Automation Engineer III, you’ll work on challenging projects in collaboration with teams across the company. You’ll achieve success with AI-first thinking, change agility, first-principles problem solving, and data-driven decision making. Leveraging your technological expertise, domain knowledge, and dedication to business objectives, you’ll drive innovation to propel HackerOne forward.

The HackerOne Enterprise Data & AI team democratizes source of truth information, transformative insights, and AI tooling and infrastructure to power enhanced decision-making, autonomous execution, and mission-aligned scale.

The future is one where every Hackeronie is a catalyst for positive change, advancing data-driven, AI-powered, human-led innovation while fostering our culture of transparency, collaboration, and customer obsession.

At HackerOne, we embrace a Flexible Work approach that gives us the freedom to do our best work while also fostering the connections and community that make us stronger. Reflecting this philosophy, this is a remote role targeted for candidates within ~50 miles of Seattle, WA or Washington, DC. We believe this balance of proximity and flexibility gives Hackeronies the chance to occasionally come together – fostering collaboration, connection, and in-person moments that enrich our culture – while still preserving the benefits of remote work.

What You Will Do

  • Work on the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered automation solutions that enhance and free Hackeronies from the endless stream of routine, manual, splinter-pulling tasks, e.g. writing meeting notes or updating spreadsheets, the ones that feel satisfying to check off simply because they relieve pain, not because they create strategic or transformative value. Once these tasks are automated, human capacity is unlocked to focus on strategic direction, creativity, and edge-case governance.

  • Act as a strategic partner to business and technology teams, translating operational needs into scalable, automated systems using leading AI and automation tools and frameworks.

  • Support end-to-end automation project delivery, including solution design, configuration, integration, and quality assurance, while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external development partners to ensure effective implementation.

  • Play a vital role in managing incidents for business critical assets as part of our on-call rotation. You’ll also help develop clear response processes and playbooks for various types of incidents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as an Engineer, Scientist, or similar role w/ proven track record of leading the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered automation solutions.

  • Experience acting as a strategic partner to business and technology teams, translating operational needs into scalable, automated systems.

  • Experience supporting end-to-end automation project delivery, including solution design, configuration, integration, and quality assurance, while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external development partners to ensure effective implementation.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on driving operational efficiency through technology.

  • Demonstrated project management, change management, and business transformation experience, ideally in a fast-paced or pre-IPO environment.

  • Proven track record of having substantial impact across the company, demonstrating your ability to drive positive change, and achieve significant results.

  • Passion for working backwards from the Customer and empathy for business stakeholders.

  • Thrive on solving ambiguous problem statements in an early-stage environment.

  • Excellent communication skills, and can present data-driven narratives in verbal, presentation, and written formats.

  • Experience shaping strategic vision and roadmaps for AI and SaaS.

  • Experience working with Agile and iterative development processes.
