Job description
Lasso is tackling one of the most burning challenges in climate: emissions in food production, responsible for 30% of total global warming potential.
We’re building the infrastructure to unlock sustainable funding at scale. Our platform connects farmers to critical funding for projects like solar, water conservation, and soil health, making it radically easier to fund climate-smart agriculture. Behind the scenes, we combine intelligent matching, AI-driven workflows, and ag-tech education to modernize how agricultural funding works.
If you’re excited to build tech that accelerates climate solutions in the agricultural sector, and above all, supports farmers, join us!
Role: Chief of Staff (full-time)
Location: Remote only to start, and ideally in-person in SF after the first 3 months

What is Lasso?
Lasso makes farm funding simple, ultimately improving access to sustainable practices and emissions-reduction technology
Why does this matter? A large share of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions are methane. Methane is a very fast-acting greenhouse gas; it is 80x more potent than CO2 in a 20-year timeframe. If we can stop methane emissions quickly, we are in a much stronger position to stop climate change.
Who are we… and how did we get here?
At Lasso, we help farmers and ranchers access funding without the stress, so they can focus on the work that really matters.
Running a farm today means juggling everything—operations, finances, equipment, marketing, all while dealing with rising costs, tight margins, and changing regulations. There’s funding available to support this work, from government programs to private incentives. But navigating it can be overwhelming, time-consuming, and unclear.
We started Lasso to change that.
Our founders, Nicole and Dávid, met at Stanford while pursuing their MBAs. With backgrounds in engineering, climate, machine learning, and consulting, they saw an opportunity to bring clarity and simplicity to agricultural funding. Since launching, we’ve been recognized by MIT and Stanford, featured on Bloomberg, Poets & Quants, and the BMO Sustainability Leaders and North American Ag podcasts. We’re backed by advisors from Bill Gates’s climate fund and leading agricultural institutions like UW Madison and Syracuse University’s Dynamic Sustainability Lab.
We’re building the tools to unlock sustainable funding at scale for the people who feed and fuel the world.
What is our team like?
At Lasso, we’re building with purpose: helping farmers and ranchers access funding that supports climate-smart agriculture. We’re a small team with big conviction, moving fast, solving real problems, and building practical tools for the people who grow our food and steward our land.
We’re driven by a few core values:
Respect for the people we serve. We listen first, build with humility, and treat both our users and teammates with deep respect. Farmers and ranchers are experts—we build in partnership, not in abstraction.
Action with quality. We move fast and test ideas early, but never at the cost of care. We value scrappiness when it helps us learn quickly, and we know that attention to detail earns trust.
High ownership and self-motivation. Every teammate contributes meaningfully, takes initiative, and follows through. We stay close to the work and take pride in doing things well.
Obsession with feedback. We believe clear, kind, and timely feedback makes us better individually and collectively. We normalize it, invite it, and act on it. Whether it’s from a teammate, a farmer, or a field test, feedback fuels our growth.
It’s also fun: we laugh a lot, joke around, and celebrate wins, both personal and professional. We offer flexibility, lead with compassion, and support each other through the ups and downs. If you want to help shape the future of ag alongside a kind, driven team, you’ll feel right at home.
What is the role?
Lasso is building the most trusted grant-writing service in agriculture. As Chief of Staff, you’ll work side-by-side with the founders to scale our operations, improve execution, and unlock their time to focus on product and sales. You’ll touch everything from customer success and hiring to internal systems and product feedback. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, communicates like a founder, and operates with speed, clarity, and autonomy.
Responsibilities
Own customer success workflows: coordinate customer onboarding, manage calls and updates, and translate conversations into clear tasks for supporting team members.
Ensure delivery quality: QA team output, surface gaps early, and close the loop with feedback.
Build and maintain internal systems: organize and improve tooling in Airtable, Notion, and Slack; create SOPs and processes that scale.
Support strategic projects: draft investor updates, perform grant funnel analysis, and conduct targeted market or grant research.
Act as a product collaborator: flag issues in tooling, lead light-touch A/B testing, and synthesize customer feedback for product improvement.
Anticipate and solve problems across teams, often before anyone else sees them.
Run operational hiring: source, screen, and coordinate interviews for grant writers, customer success, and technical roles.
What are we looking for?
3+ years of work experience, ideally in consulting, finance, or startup(-like) environment
Successful track record of working with high-performing teams that have addressed complex challenges
A proactive mindset, you don’t wait to be told what to do, and you take initiative when you notice a gap
An obsession with quality and a sharp eye for detail, you care deeply about getting things right, from strategy decisions to typos
Ownership mindset regarding the company’s success, and solution mindset, and clear, upfront communication regarding issues
Excited to receive, act upon, and give feedback
