Position summary

The Communications Strategist is responsible for developing and executing a content strategy that is consistent, sustainable, and aligns with established standards across digital, print, and other mediums. This role will provide strategic advice to streamline content production, improve content models, and ensure consistent voice and tone. The strategist will collaborate closely with developers, designers, and other content creators, contributing to effective content marketing experiences through the Agile development process. What you’ll do

  • Lead & develop communication strategy & oversee project sites as well as public & participant community communications
  • Maintain & outline updates to project sites including product website, public wiki pages (GitBook), and internal wiki (Confluence)
  • Lead public & participant communications including newsletters, advising Open Source and Co-Design/Planning communications for consistent voice & tone, as well as creating, driving and contributing content for project newsletter, website & social media
  • Work with vendors & peer contractors to coordinate overall project Comms
  • Supporting outreach and review of presentation materials for project presentations including Program “Big Demo”, larger stakeholder presentations, and Open Source Community events
  • Work with Program leadership to coordinate  & then facilitate Community of Practice meetings with larger entities that include various sub-orgs/agencies to understand their needs regarding permissions, org structure, and workspace functionality, as well as provide an avenue for participants to network with peers and provide the implementation team to learn & collaborate
  • Create content strategies that are consistent across digital, print, and other mediums
  • Ensure content production aligns with company and program standards and values
  • Maintain consistency in voice and tone across all communications platforms
  • Provide guidance to improve content models and production workflows
  • Identify and implement solutions for more efficient content creation and management
  • Advise on user research-based approaches to content design
  • Work with developers, designers, and content creators using Agile methodologies
  • Collaborate on content marketing experiences, ensuring alignment with program goals
  • Lead writing and editing efforts for various communications, including digital and print
  • Ensure all written materials align with business objectives and user needs

Required skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years experience in content strategy, writing, and editing
  • Strong project management skills, able to balance multiple tasks and stakeholders
  • Confidence in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and execute content strategies based on user needs
  • Strong collaboration skills, especially with developers and designers
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience facilitating workshops and brainstorming sessions
  • Knowledge of Agile software development processes

Desired skills

  • Experience working in the technology or civic tech sector
  • Familiarity with government contracting (GovCon)
  • Established relationships with press members in technology or mainstream media

$92,000 - $103,000 a year

Other requirements

All roles at Nava require the following:

Legal authorization to work in the United States

Ability to meet any other requirements for government contracts for which candidates are hired

Work authorization that doesn’t require visa sponsorship, now or in the future

May be subject to a government background check or security clearance, depending on the contract
