Job description

About Aios Medical

Our overarching mission is to accelerate the mass-market adoption of consumer biotech products so every human can live at least 100 healthy years. Our immediate focus is excess bodyweight. We are increasing the accessibility of GLP-1 medications to accelerate their take-up to help solve obesity worldwide.

To do that, we’re building an AI-powered clinical operating system: ClinicOS. ClinicOS makes it effortless for consumer brands to easily offer direct-to-patient healthcare, globally. We work with external Brand Partners, as well as using this infrastructure to scale our own internal consumer healthcare brands.

Since we launched Fella Health in the US in June 2021, Fella has positioned itself as no-nonsense weight loss for busy bigger guys. Today, we operate multiple brands across the US & UK — our two biggest are Fella Health (US & UK) & Bolt Pharmacy (UK).

Our infrastructure will have served 100 million patients worldwide by 2035. We’ll then use that direct-to-patient infrastructure to serve next-gen biotech products at-scale to increase the proportion of humans living at least 100 healthy years.

In so doing, we’ll become the world’s first trillion dollar healthcare company.

How far along are we?

We’ve grown >2000x since Aug 2021, >200x since Aug 2022, >20x since Aug 2023. We’re >$50M/yr revenue. We’ve been cashflow positive since June 2023. We’re >10,000 customers with high NPS.

We’re a young startup and we’re just getting started. This is still Day 1 and all our work is ahead of us.

We’re backed by top healthcare & consumer investors:

  • Y Combinator

  • Global Founders Capital — backed Facebook, Slack, LinkedIn, Revolut, Rocket Internet

  • AngelList Early Stage Fund (backed by Naval Ravikant)

  • BrandProject (venture-builder behind 2 unicorns)

  • The founders of Indeed, Curative (unicorn), Alan (unicorn), Kaia Health (>$300mil valuation), Vouch Insurance (>$500mil valuation), Not Boring (Packy McCormick)

Being a Data Engineer Lead at Aios Medical

Aios Medical is building a world-class team.

As Data Engineer Lead, your fundamental role is to take full ownership of our data stack, building reliable pipelines, making data accessible acroos all teams, and setting the foundations for a future centralized data team.

You’ll start within the engineering team, focused on fixing what’s broken and setting up what’s missing: rebuilding our pipelines, syncing 20+ sources into Redshift, and making sure every sync works without manual checks. You’ll make high-impact decisions on tooling, sync frequency, and error handling so the data just works.

At the same time, you’ll help define how we measure our business across the full customer journey: pre-conversion (e.g. CAC, CPL) and post-conversion (e.g. time to medication). You’ll work directly with Ben and Dave to understand the questions they’re trying to answer, then build the systems and logic to answer them. You’ll be both engineer and analyst: making data accessible, and making it meaningful.

Great performance in this role means the pipelines are stable, reporting is self-serve, and we’ve laid the groundwork for a centralized data team that can scale. You’ll be the one who gets us there.

This is a full-time, fully remote role, and you’ll work async in the timezone of your choice as long as you’re around until midday Pacific Time for calls as needed.

You’ll report directly to Gzim (Head of Engineering). You’ll also work closely with: Ben (Head of Product) & Dave (Head of Growth).

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be the go-to person for all things data at Aios. You’ll fix what’s broken, build what’s missing, and soon build the foundation for a horizontal data team.

Right now:

  • Clean Syncs: Our current syncs aren’t as reliable as they should be. You’ll own the flow of data from 20+ sources into Redshift, reducing manual checks, fixing failure points, and making sure everything runs smoothly day to day.

  • Engineering First: This role leans heavily on data engineering early on. You’ll own the tools, build the warehouse structure, and make the micro-decisions around sync frequency, tooling, and reliability.

  • Pre + Post Conversion: You’ll support both sides of the business: Growth (e.g. CAC, CPL, funnel metrics) and Product/Ops (e.g. time to medication, delivery times). You’ll stitch the data together so these metrics are clean and trusted.

  • Solo Operator: This is a senior role. You won’t wait to figure things out. You know what matters, how to define it, and how to build the backend logic to track it.

In the future:

  • Centralized Data: This role starts in engineering, but over time, you’ll build a horizontal Data team that owns both data engineering and analytics across the org.

  • Strategic Partner: You’ll become a key decision-maker on data across the org, balancing reliability, speed, and clarity in how we use data to drive the business.

Need to Have

  • Experience: You’ve worked with data for 5+ years and have at least 2+ years focused on data engineering. You’ve owned pipelines, warehouses, and reporting in fast-moving environments.

  • Engineering: You’ve built and maintained data pipelines that sync from multiple sources into a central warehouse like Redshift. You’ve set up syncing logic, error handling, and you know what breaks &how to fix it.

  • Redshift: You’ve used Redshift or a similar cloud warehouse as the core of your stack. You know how to structure data for clean, fast access across teams.

  • SQL: You’re fluent. You can build queries from scratch, troubleshoot broken ones, and define metrics clearly in SQL with minimal help.

  • Metric Clarity: You understand what the business is trying to measure. If someone asks for CAC or time to medication, you know how to break that down into the data points required, find the right source, and build it end to end.

  • Ownership: You don’t need someone to tell you what to build. You’ll figure out what matters, how to define it, and how to track it both for pre and post-conversion journeys.

  • Autonomy: You’ve worked as a solo operator or early hire before. You know how to prioritize, unblock yourself, and move fast without waiting on others.

  • Team Builder: You’ve managed a team before. You’re excited to grow a team around you to cover both data engineering and analytics as the function scales.

Nice to Have

  • Growth Metrics: You’ve supported teams measuring CAC, CPL, funnel stages, or other acquisition metrics. You can speak the same language as growth leads and turn ideas into dashboards.

  • Clinical/Product Metrics: You’ve worked with operational metrics in healthcare or similar industries (e.g. fulfillment speed, delivery time).

  • Analytics Tools: You’ve used tools like Metabase or similar to help teams explore data, visualize results, and share reports.

  • Rudderstack: You’ve worked with customer data platforms like Rudderstack (or Segment), and understand how to manage event tracking and integrations.

  • Figure it out: You’re the kind of person who doesn’t stop at “why is this broken?”you dig until it works. You can debug a failing sync, validate weird numbers, or reverse engineer a broken report.

Our cultural standards

These are the core cultural standards to which we hold ourselves & our team-members at Fella:

These are the core cultural standards to which we hold ourselves & our team-members:

  1. Belief in the mission: We will have served 100 million patients by the end of 2035 and we transform the life of most patients who join. We have a lot of work to do. We are obsessed with our patients and are dedicated to the mission.

  2. Unwavering integrity: We are at the frontier, so we often live in ambiguity with no trodden path. When we can’t look to others for guidance, we must maintain impeccable ethics and unwavering integrity.

  3. Only the paranoid survive: Bad sh*t is coming. By joining us, you’re choosing to sail straight towards the storms with unhesitating conviction. However much we’ve already done, however far we’ve already come — it’s still Day 1 and all our work is ahead of us.

  4. If we’re average we fail: We are only interested in “insanely great”, a focus on the quality of our execution that in everyday life would be considered pathological. We have a dedication to excellence and reject incompetence.

  5. Commitment to candor: That which can be destroyed by the truth should be. You get full transparency from the company and the company expects full transparency from you. We never say anything about someone that we wouldn’t say to them directly. We give feedback with love and do not need to protect people from fleeting physical sensations.

  6. A maniacal sense of urgency: We execute at an intensity that most people think is impossible. Speed is critical and we need things done yesterday. We all work very hard and in such a competitive world there really is no other way to win.

  7. Enduring frugality: We are frugal. We hate being wasteful and we are anti-luxury. A culture of cheapness keeps us young. We spend our cash wisely & carefully — in a way that would make our grandmas proud.

  8. Bulldozing barriers: The world is malleable and we shape it. We truly believe this and act accordingly. We are relentlessly resourceful and are at the mercy of no-one but ourselves. You’ll be shocked how capable you are and how much you can achieve.

  9. Keep your head down: We’re boring people doing exciting work. We don’t chase short-term status — we ignore short-term dopamine hits and focus on what matters. Outsiders will underestimate us and we revel in that.

  10. The power of focus: We live in a world of power laws and we cannot overestimate the unimportance of practically everything. Know your One Thing, and nail it.

🎯 “You just build a f ing amazing experience. Make each step amazing. Make every decision in the long term interest of the customer. Give the customer massively more value than you take.”*

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation: $$60-90k/year inc equity

  • Healthcare: comprehensive medical insurance (if appropriate)

  • Vacation: PTO with a yearly minimum (≥2wks/yr + local national holidays)

  • Personal wellness: budget for gym, health apps ($1200/yr)

  • Coaching: free biweekly health coaching
