OpenX Technologies, Inc. is looking for a Data Scientist to join our team in the Data Science Org. Our exchange processes hundreds of billions of ad requests daily, resulting in petabytes of new data daily. This data volume demands cutting-edge applications of sophisticated models, deep learning, and novel platforms to function efficiently and provide the best value for our customers. We are looking for data scientists who are experienced with systems that blend deep learning, optimization, and statistical insights to achieve the best possible business outcomes and provide nuanced control over complex processes.

The ideal candidate has a creative mind which they put to use by constructing models tailored for prediction with high dimensionality data sets — we are looking for those who can translate requests from business and product into Data Science / ML problems. They should also be capable of leading and executing on those projects with state-of-the-art advances from the literature while incorporating them into production systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Extracting data from terabyte-scale datasets and transforming it to compact representations which are amenable to use by a wide variety of models
  • Developing and managing ML pipelines to predict and model key components and phenomena in our ad exchange, leveraging these to answer questions and improve performance
  • Construction of novel model types and tuning existing models and their products to enhance functionality and drive new developmental features
  • Guiding and developing DS / ML projects from inception to production-level deployment while reporting to stakeholders on progress and challenges
  • Coordinating with other members of the team to deploy, manage, and synchronize the function of all ML models in production and development

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research or related technical field with 4+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Fluency in SQL and Python
  • Extensive experience with a variety of modeling methodologies, including deep learning and other ML techniques beyond common regression, particularly in the context of tensorflow and its related applications / environment
  • Strong track record of nurturing DS / ML projects to maturity with maximal business impact as well as supporting and improving those projects beyond deployment
  • Mastery of probability and statistics, especially techniques that scale to massive datasets
  • Strong communication and presentation skills — proficient in analysis and summarization of the key points of a data set or experiment result

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience working with a cloud platform like GCP / AWS / Azure, with emphasis on GCP and the Tensorflow / Vertex platform
  • Familiarity with other programming languages such as Java and Golang
  • Experience providing mentorship and guidance to more junior employees
  • Experience working in digital media, marketing technology or advertising technology
