EvenUp is seeking an experienced Director, People Business Partners to lead the People Partnering strategy for our Engineering, Product & Design, and Go-to-Market (GTM) organizations. These teams are at the heart of our innovation and growth, and this role will play a critical part in enabling their success through strategic people leadership.
Reporting to the VP of People, you’ll serve as a senior advisor to functional executives and their leadership teams across the Americas. As we scale, you’ll also manage and develop a team of People Business Partners. This role is ideal for a hands-on, strategic leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments and brings deep expertise in org design, performance and career growth, and employee engagement.
What You’ll Do
Lead People Partnering for Core Functions: Serve as the lead People Partner for Engineering, Product, Design, and GTM, partnering directly with executives to align people strategies with business goals.
Manage & Develop a Team: Grow and manage a team of People Business Partners, ensuring they are equipped to support their client groups with high-impact, scalable solutions.
Coach & Advise Senior Leaders: Be a thought partner to functional leaders, providing strategic guidance on organizational design, leadership effectiveness, change management, and team dynamics.
Drive Talent and Workforce Strategies: Collaborate on workforce planning, organizational effectiveness, career architecture, and team health for high-growth functions.
Elevate Performance & Development: Champion a high-performance culture through coaching, feedback, and performance management programs that foster clarity, accountability, and growth.
Oversee Complex Employee Relations: Handle escalated employee relations issues with care and legal compliance, partnering with Legal and senior leaders to ensure appropriate outcomes.
Bring Data to the Table: Use people analytics, engagement data, and qualitative feedback to inform talent decisions and influence business strategy.
Collaborate Across the People Team: Work closely with colleagues in Talent Acquisition, L&D, Total Rewards, and People Ops to deliver cohesive, strategic support to client groups.
Support Culture & Belonging: Be an active steward of EvenUp’s values and help embed inclusive practices across all people initiatives and business decisions.
What We’re Looking For
10+ years of progressive experience in People/HR, including 6+ years as a People Business Partner to technical and/or customer-facing teams in high-growth environments.
Experience leading and managing other HR or People Business Partners.
Proven experience partnering directly with senior leaders in Engineering, Product, Design, or GTM.
Deep knowledge of org design, performance management, talent development, and team effectiveness.
Outstanding relationship-building and coaching skills, with a high level of emotional intelligence and sound judgment.
Strong understanding of U.S. employment law; Canadian expertise is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business or a related field preferred.
Experience in pre-IPO tech startups or rapidly scaling environments is strongly preferred.

Location & Travel
- This role is open to candidates based in the U.S. or Canada, with a strong preference for those located in San Francisco or Toronto. Occasional travel may be required for team events and leadership offsites.
