Job description

Spreetail propels brands to increase their ecommerce market share across the globe while improving their operational costs. Learn how we are building one of the fastest-growing ecommerce companies in history: www.spreetail.com.

Work Your Way:

At Spreetail, we believe in empowering our employees to work in the way that suits them best through our Work Your Way approach. Each team member has the flexibility to choose where they work most effectively each week—whether that’s from home, a coffee shop, or the office. While flexibility is key, we also value the power of in-person connection. That’s why we bring our corporate team together in Lincoln each quarter for a week of intentional collaboration, team building, community engagement, and our All-Hands meeting. It’s the best of both worlds: the freedom to work your way, with meaningful opportunities to connect and grow together. Please scroll to the bottom of the job posting to confirm that your state qualifies for the Work Your Way program.

Spreetail is seeking a Licensed Customs Broker to join our team as a Director of Trade Compliance. In this role, you’ll drive our global trade compliance strategy, building scalable programs that reduce landed cost and streamline customs operations across borders. You’ll work cross-functionally to embed compliance into every stage of the supply chain while influencing key business decisions through data and risk mitigation. Success requires someone who acts with urgency, communicates with clarity, and embraces challenges as opportunities to raise the bar. If you’re driven by results, lead with accountability, and want to leave a lasting impact—this is the role for you.

How you will achieve success:

  • Lead the development and execution of a global trade compliance strategy that aligns with business goals and mitigates regulatory risk across the supply chain.
  • Build and scale enterprise-wide compliance programs including HTS classification, country-of-origin determination, denied party screening, and licensing.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Legal, Product, and Engineering to integrate compliance into product design, vendor onboarding, and international expansion.
  • Drive cost savings through FTA optimization, FTZ utilization, and duty mitigation, while ensuring audit readiness and regulatory alignment (e.g., EAR, ITAR, USMCA).
  • Serve as the primary liaison to U.S. CBP and global customs authorities, lead trade compliance audits, and leverage tools like Descartes and SAP GTS to guide executive decisions.

What experiences will help you in this role:

  • Demonstrated experience in import & export compliance, with a strong background in tariffs, regulatory compliance, and international trade.
  • Experience with Asia imports; preferred experience with Canada and Mexico.
  • Proven success in building and scaling internal trade and compliance processes.
  • Experience in building and deploying First Receipt Programs.
  • Must hold an active Customs Broker License with 5+ years of experience in international trade and compliance.
