We were founded in 1945 in Springfield, Illinois, by two educators who wanted to provide affordable auto insurance to teachers. We were first called the Illinois Education Association Mutual Insurance Company, but later changed our name to honor Horace Mann, a key figure in American public education.

Today, we are a national multiline insurance provider, serving educators and their families across the U.S. We offer auto, homeowners, renters, life, and supplemental insurance, along with retirement annuities and other financial solutions.

We also support the educational community through recognition programs and by helping to fund classrooms through DonorsChoose.org.
