Job description

Waymark is a team of healthcare providers, technologists, and builders whose mission is to bring the best healthcare to people with Medicaid benefits. Guided by the communities we serve, we bring support and technology-enabled care to help primary care providers keep Medicaid patients healthy. We are building the tools and designing an approach to enable care to reach the patients who can benefit most.

Our core values embody the essence of what makes Waymark a unique team today, and what we look for, nurture, and sustain as a team. We are bold builders, believing that the greatest challenges in care delivery can be solved when we harness the power of community and technology. We are humble learners, seeking feedback and perspectives different from our own, and welcome challenges to our conclusions. We experiment to improve, actively seeking data to inform decisions and to assess our own performance. We act with focused urgency, driven by our commitment to our mission.

If this vision resonates with you, we hope you consider bringing your creativity, your energy, and your curiosity to Waymark.

About this role

As a Level 4 Full Stack Engineer with a backend focus, you will be an integral part of ensuring the quality, reliability, and scalability of our healthcare technology platform. • Drive architectural decisions and design discussions for system-level initiatives, ensuring solutions align with long-term product and company goals
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers, fostering their growth through guidance on architectural decisions and coding practices
  • Establish and maintain quality standards across the engineering team, introducing process improvements that enhance code maintainability and performance
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration with product, design, and other teams to identify requirements and deliver high-impact solutions
  • Create and manage feedback channels to ensure smooth collaboration and iterative improvement across teams
  • Tackle complex backend challenges while maintaining a full-stack perspective, continually refining our technical processes and adopting best practices

Minimum Qualifications

  • 7+ years of commercial product development experience, with demonstrable focus on backend systems and full stack exposure
  • Advanced proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and React (or comparable frontend framework)
  • Proficiency with Elixir or other functional programming
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable APIs and database solutions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated ability to translate complex business needs into technical solutions

Preferred Qualifications

  • DevOps experience, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure (AWS, Docker, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Twilio integrations for communications
  • Early-stage startup experience with fast-paced environments
  • Previous experience in healthcare or other mission-driven organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers in technical and professional development
