Job Description
1. General Mission
The Head of Architecture leads the implementation of enterprise architecture within the Information System. This role manages a team of enterprise, solution, and data architects, and acts as a catalyst between technology strategy, business challenges, and the operational reality of product delivery.
The Head of Architecture is responsible for defining and executing the team’s roadmap, overseeing architecture governance, and deploying key standards and tools (system cartography, solution design templates, tech radar, process and data repositories). This includes structuring technology governance (standards, arbitrations, tech radar) and ensuring that technology choices align with business needs, product priorities, and scalability and resilience requirements.
2. Key Responsibilities
2.1. Roadmap Definition and Execution
Develop a strategic roadmap for architecture initiatives (landscape, solution design, business process mapping, tech standards, etc.).
Prioritize initiatives based on ongoing transformations and business domain needs.
Organize follow-up, reporting, and KPIs related to roadmap delivery.
2.2. Team Leadership and Development
Manage, grow, and unite a team of architects acting as domain referents.
Support the development of enterprise architect posture beyond pure technical scope, aligned with business strategy.
Guide architects in design methods, cartography, and cross-functional facilitation.
2.3. Technology Governance and Standards
Lead technology governance: maintain a living tech radar, coordinate technology arbitrations, define adoption criteria.
Structure technical standards (solution design templates, documentation norms, design best practices).
Ensure adoption and integration of these standards into product teams’ practices.
2.4. Architecture Practice Animation
Organize team rituals (design reviews, knowledge sharing, transversal alignment).
Coordinate interactions with transverse functions (security, platform, data, QA).
Promote a unified vision of architecture and design tools across the organization.
2.5. Communication and Influence
Represent the architecture team in governance and transformation steering committees.
Advocate for enterprise architecture toward tech and business stakeholders.
Promote architecture as a key enabler for informed decisions, simplification, and risk mitigation.
Qualifications
Technical Expertise
Ability to structure and implement a pragmatic enterprise and solution architecture practice, covering system cartography, urbanization, and data governance, while leveraging insights from various frameworks (CSVLOD, TOGAF, Zachman, etc.) without strict dependency.
Proficiency in modeling tools and techniques (C4, UML, Archimate) to effectively document architectures across all levels (context, containers, components, flows, etc.); knowledge of design patterns and modern architecture styles (API, microservices, EDA, etc.).
Experience in technology stack governance (tech radar, standardization, rationalization).
Soft Skills
Strong leadership, coaching mindset, and the ability to grow a team.
Capacity to structure and prioritize complex architectural roadmaps.
Proactive, analytical mindset with strong diplomacy in transformation contexts.
