Job description

About Aplos, Raisely and Keela:

We’re excited to share that Aplos, Raisely, and Keela have come together to form one unified company with a shared mission: to help nonprofit organizations thrive. While we continue to offer the products you know and love, we now operate as one team, dedicated to making nonprofit work easier, more impactful, and more sustainable.

Together, our combined expertise spans fundraising, donor management, financial tracking, and communications—offering a powerful suite of tools designed to reduce complexity so nonprofits can focus on what matters most: making a difference.

We’re one company with 3 products all servicing customers in the impact space. Working at Aplos, Raisely and Keela means that you have the opportunity to build one or across all our products.

We have a combination of merged teams and also teams dedicated to one specific product and you can find details about the work through our job descriptions under the “about the role” section.

About the Role:

ARK builds three SaaS platforms—Aplos, Keela, and Raisely—that help nonprofits run their finances, engage donors, and grow their impact. Each brand relies on data to guide product bets, measure customer health, and inform board‑level decisions.

The data stack is modern but still maturing. You will set the vision, finish the data-lake to dashboard pipeline, and give every team the confidence to make decisions with numbers they trust. You will start with three experienced ICs and budget for future hires.

What You’ll be Doing:

First 90 days

  • Publish a 12‑month data roadmap that aligns with company OKRs
  • Deliver a duplicate‑free revenue model for Finance (fact_movement_clean)
  • Define and implement row-level security and role-based access in BigQuery and Metabase
  • Launch a live metrics glossary in Notion

Month 4–6

  • Replace remaining R and Stitch jobs with Python pipelines
  • Stand up dbt for tested, documented data models
  • Ship Marketing ROI dashboards that replace funnel.io
  • Host Metabase training so 80 percent of routine questions are self‑serve

By month 12

  • Fully migrate orchestration to Cloud Composer (or Airflow)
  • All three BigQuery instances consolidated into a single BigQuery database with a unified semantic layer serving Metabase.
  • North‑Star metric suite (Time to Value, Continued Value) live for every product
  • Stakeholder NPS on data availability and accuracy ≥ 50
  • Prepare hiring plan for 2026 expansion

Ongoing responsibilities

  • Own the data and analytics strategy, budget, and risk register
  • Lead, coach, and hire a high‑performing team (Analyst, Analytics Engineer, Data Architect, plus future roles)
  • Drive cross‑department alignment on metric definitions and data quality
  • Present insights, trends, and data posture to executive leadership and the board
  • Maintain strong governance on privacy, security, and cost

What success looks like

  • One trusted source of truth for revenue, retention, and engagement
  • Data freshness SLA met 99 percent of the time
  • 90 active monthly Metabase users who build or modify content without tickets
  • Data stack costs per customer below industry benchmarks

Must‑have

  • 8+ years in analytics and data engineering, with at least 3 leading teams
  • Hands‑on expertise with Google BigQuery, Python, and a modeling layer such as dbt
  • Experience standing up or refining BI governance and permission frameworks
  • Strong communicator who can translate SQL results into plain language for Product, CS, Finance, and Marketing leaders
  • Track record building revenue, retention, or usage metrics for a subscription software business

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with Metabase or similar semantic‑layer BI tools
  • Stripe payment data modeling experience
  • Background in nonprofit or fundraising technology
  • Knowledge of Google Cloud Composer, Airflow, or other orchestration tools

Tools you will own

  • Warehouse: BigQuery

  • Ingestion: Python (Cloud Functions)

  • Modeling: dbt (rolling out)

  • Orchestration: Cloud Scheduler, moving to Cloud Composer

  • BI: Metabase Cloud

  • 💵 Salary – Pay range depends on location and is $145,000 - $170,000 CAD. Your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience, and geographic location.

  • 🏝️ Remote work & leave – We’re a remote-first company. We also have generous PTO plans (4 weeks of vacation, volunteer time off, plus an office closure from Christmas to New Year’s Day!) and support paid parental leave (12 weeks).

  • ❤️ Health Coverage & RRSP - We offer robust medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance coverages and have a 4% match on RRSP.

If you have any questions or require accommodations in the interview process, please reach out to [email protected].
