About the Role
We are seeking a diligent and analytical External Affairs Intern who is interested in a future career in regulatory and corporate affairs. The External Affairs Intern’s primary responsibility is developing a public-private sector anti-fraud campaign over three to six months.
The External Affairs Intern will be required to research and prepare easily digestible written material on digital literacy and other means to prevent fraud. They also will be required to regularly identify, track, and report fraudulent activities on social media, which will contribute to our efforts to protect our users and maintain our brand’s integrity.
This paid part-time position offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to contribute to a critical function within our remote-first organization. It offers at least 80 hours of training hours each month.
What You’ll Do
- Assist the External Affairs Director with planning and implementing an anti-fraud campaign that will launch in June 2025 and may continue until December 2025.
- Identify, document and report instances of common scams affecting the Tala brand, including methods used, targets, and potential impact, on social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter).
- Prepare a monthly high-level report on scam incidents and trends and a final report that may be used as a training reference for future interns and external stakeholders.
- Research tips, tools and methods to mitigate risks arising from common scams.
- Prepare material about fraud and scam prevention for dissemination to Tala users.
What You’ll Bring
- Current student of a reputable college or university.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms and social media monitoring tools.
- Proficiency in English and Bisaya, particularly the ability to write fluently.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Practical understanding of basic online security best practices.
- Knowledge of public sector stakeholders who regulate or otherwise impact the fintech industry and the banking industry would be an advantage.
- Students of computer science, statistics, law, psychology, communications and mass media fields are welcome.
