We started in 2011, offering digital financial services through a money app that includes credit, payments, savings, and transfer services. We serve millions of customers, often called the Global Majority, across three continents.

We use mobile technology, alternative data, and an AI credit engine to make financial decisions in seconds and disburse funds in minutes. This helps people who haven’t had access to traditional financial services.

We’ve delivered over $7 billion in credit to more than 13 million customers with an 88% repayment rate. We’ve raised nearly half a billion dollars in investments and debt from investors like Upstart, the Stellar Development Foundation, and PayPal Ventures. We’ve been recognized by Fortune’s Impact 20, CNBC’s Disruptor 50 list (five years), and Forbes’ Fintech 50 list (nine years).

Our headquarters is in Santa Monica, with other offices in Nairobi, Manila, Mexico City, and Bangalore. We operate in Latin America (Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru), Southeast Asia (Philippines, Vietnam), and East Africa (Kenya).

Our mission is to help create an inclusive financial system for the global majority, fostering economic progress worldwide. We founded Tala because billions of people lack access to traditional financial services; existing systems just weren’t built for them.

Our approach builds new financial infrastructure, combining elements of a credit bureau, a bank, and a payment platform.
