Internal Communications and Engagement Specialist (1-Year Fixed-Term, Maternity Cover)

Overview

As part of a globally dispersed and specialized Central Operations team, the Internal Communications and Engagement Specialist plays a key role in fostering engagement and alignment across the organization. This is a one-year fixed-term position to provide maternity cover. The role ensures that our internal communications systems, events, and initiatives drive connectivity, clarity, and engagement for colleagues worldwide.

Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled communicator and engagement specialist to join our growing Operations Team on a one-year fixed-term contract to cover a team member’s maternity leave. This team empowers colleagues across DA by ensuring smooth internal processes and fostering a connected, informed, and engaged global workforce.

As an Internal Communications and Engagement Specialist, you will play a crucial role in supporting global internal communications, engagement strategies, and organizational events. Your work will ensure that DA employees are informed, aligned, and engaged, contributing to a strong and connected company culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead internal communications initiatives to keep employees informed and engaged across a fully remote and globally dispersed company.

  • Create, publish, and manage internal newsletters, organizational updates, and key messaging.

  • Support internal events such as global retreats, in-person meetings, and monthly all-hands meetings.

  • Develop and maintain internal communication channels, including Slack engagement strategies and intranet updates.

  • Expand and manage employee feedback cycles, including surveys, analysis, and follow-up action plans.

  • Design and implement communication campaigns for internal initiatives and organizational updates.

  • Provide strategic support for team-specific communication needs, from creating one-pagers to executing full-scale campaigns.

  • Establish and manage communication standards, best practices, and SOPs to enhance consistency and impact.

  • Research and implement innovative internal communication and engagement practices to improve remote collaboration.

  • Collaborate with global colleagues and leadership teams to ensure alignment on messaging and engagement strategies.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Graphic Design, or a related field.

  • Professional Experience: At least 3–5 years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, corporate communications, or a related field.

  • Writing & Editing: Exceptional writing and editing skills with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging content.

  • Design Capabilities: Experience creating electronic materials using Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Canva.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, MS Suite, Slack, and other communications tools. Ability to quickly learn and utilize new technologies.

  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a remote, global environment.

  • Event Planning: Experience supporting or leading event coordination, particularly in virtual and hybrid settings.

  • Experience in a Remote Environment: Proven ability to work effectively in a fully remote and globally dispersed team.

  • Preferred but not required: Experience with change management, intranet tools (e.g., Guru), or consulting/government-related work.
