Opportunity Summary
As a Java Intern, you’ll gain first-hand experience in the software development lifecycle while being embedded in a project team. You will be guided by a dedicated mentor who will help you apply best practices and transform theoretical knowledge into real, scalable solutions.
The 8-weeks paid internship program will have an 8-hour/day format – giving you time to dive into the Accesa culture, learn from our senior colleagues, and discover our self-managed communities of IT experts. The internship will be remote, with the possibility to have face to face sessions.
Learning Opportunities
During the internship, you will:
- Learn to design, discuss, clarify, and implement backend requirements using Java technologies
- Develop your understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles in real-world projects
- Learn to work in Agile/Scrum environments using internal project management tools
- Participate in team meetings, contributing to discussions on project progress and design decisions
- Write clean and maintainable Java code while following best practices
- Gain exposure to relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases used in backend development
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure technical solutions meet business needs
- Opportunity to grow beyond the internship and expand your expertise across technical domains, such as Data Engineering or AI, depending on your interests and the project needs
Recruitment & Selection Process & Timeline
- Applications are open until May 7th
- After the application deadline, selected candidates will receive a technical challenge involving the development of a small application. The specific requirements for the application will be shared after the application period closes. The completion period will be approximately two weeks, until mid-May.
- We will review your technical challenge submission and provide feedback. Candidates whose results align with our requirements will be invited to a “Get to know each other” discussion scheduled for late May or early June
Qualifications
- Studies in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (graduates from previous classes or expected graduation in summer 2025)
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts
- Familiarity with Java syntax and programming fundamentals
- Knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases
- Basic understanding of web development terminology (e.g., APIs, HTTP, REST)
- Algorithmic thinking and strong problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills in English (German is a plus)
- Availability to work full-time post-internship
