We are currently seeking a full-time Learning & Development (L&D) Senior Manager to lead the development and delivery of our internal Learning & Development practice area. The ideal candidate will bring experience managing a geographically diverse team, experience with learning management systems and/or learning experience platforms, excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, experience with project management, instructional design skills, and experience growing employee capabilities to meet the future needs the company. This is an excellent opportunity for someone that wants to use their learning and development experience to support the efforts of a rapidly growing, mission-driven company.

The person filling this role will be required to work in a hybrid work environment adjacent to one of our offices (Oakland, CA, Orange, CA,  Portland, OR,  Boston, MA,  or Chicago, IL) and expected to be in the office a minimum of once a week (currently Wednesdays) and as needed for L&D events. Travel up to 30%

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the Instructional Design team who design and develop learning experiences for staff using multiple delivery methods including classroom, virtual, e-learning, and on-the-job.
  • Collaborate with company stakeholders on the development and delivery of training on diverse topics including office technology, supervision, leadership, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) across individual business units.
  • Manage stakeholders and subject matter experts in the content development process, ensuring alignment, engagement, and expectation management.
  • Develop courses that align with work performance competencies and job ladders/career lattice.
  • Assess how learning can meet business needs and recommend solutions that will support performance and behavior change.
  • Manage and maintain our learning management system (Absorb).
  • Manage two compliance seasons and respond to audits such as SOC2 and NIST.
  • Oversee the employee onboarding process and connect with departments to ensure seamless onboarding experience.

Minimum qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design/Instructional Technology, Human Resources, or related specialization.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience highlighting a combination of learning program management, instructional design, and facilitation.
  • A minimum of 5 years of instructional design experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role leading a geographically diverse team.
  • Experience developing training programs that align with company competencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver curriculum and learning programs from concept to end product, have collaborated with subject matter experts to do the same, and coached team members on developing those skills.
  • A track record of learning program development that delivers business impact and positive return on investment (ROI) for the organization.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Ability to manage tactical tasks to support strategic initiatives.
  • Strong relationship-building skills to work collaboratively with partners across the organization.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with an appetite for distilling complex information to emphasize what matters most.
  • Intermediate experience using Microsoft Office (Office365, SharePoint, OneNote).
  • Willingness to conduct occasional business travel regionally and nationally (Up to 30%)
  • Able to work in a hybrid work environment from one of Energy Solutions’ offices (Oakland, CA, Orange, CA,  Portland, OR,  Boston, MA,  or Chicago, IL)
  • Expected to work from office a minimum of once a week (currently Wednesdays)

Desired qualifications:

  • Relevant certification, including Certified Professional in Training Management (CPTM), ATD Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
  • Experience managing a learning program for a mid-size company.
  • Experience in Learning Management System administration.

Compensation is commensurate with experience between the pay bands of $105,000 - $137,000/Annually

Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes a generous retirement package. Energy Solutions provides an excellent benefits package including medical, dental and vision insurance, other pre-tax contribution plans and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

Office Locations and a Remote Workforce

Energy Solutions operates as a predominantly remote workforce with offices in  six different locations. Employees who reside within 40 miles of an office (except New York) will be assigned to that location, though in-office attendance requirements may vary by team.
