About the Role

We are seeking a smart, detail-oriented, and highly motivated Legal Intern to support our Chief Legal Counsel and legal team. This is a hands-on opportunity to gain exposure to real-world legal work, including gaining knowledge on laws, regulations and policies affecting clean transportation, funding award applications, contract review, legal research, and writing. You’ll contribute to projects that directly impact our business operations (including private foundation fundraising efforts) while learning about the legal and contractual processes in a dynamic company setting.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Conduct legal research on a variety of topics to support internal needs
  • Draft, review, and edit policies and contracts
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining legal and contract documentation
  • Support the legal team in preparing summaries
  • Collaborate cross-functionally and communicate clearly with team members

What You Bring To The Table

  • Interest in pursuing a JD or related legal degree
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to learn

$16 - $21 an hour

CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $16-$21/hr. Pay is determined based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity, and other factors relevant to the job.
