Job description
A national nonprofit organization, established in 1985 and dedicated to advancing research, care, and public awareness for individuals affected by ALS, is seeking a Development Manager for a remote position based in the Southern United States. Candidates residing in Oklahoma, Louisiana, or Mississippi are especially encouraged to apply. This role is responsible for leading signature fundraising events and supporting community-based fundraising initiatives.
Responsibilities
Implement a strategic fundraising plan to meet a revenue goal of $350,000+ through events such as walks, golf tournaments, galas, and community partner events.
Recruit, support, and retain event committee chairs, members, and local community partners.
Develop and maintain relationships with team captains and individual participants for fundraising events.
Manage event logistics or delegate responsibilities to committee volunteers.
Ensure events are executed within set budget parameters.
Collaborate with care service teams to include individuals and families impacted by ALS in fundraising and awareness efforts.
Coordinate with marketing and communications staff to meet promotional and public relations goals.
Conduct meetings, phone calls, and email correspondence with event sponsors, donors, vendors, and volunteers.
Represent the organization at public functions and speak at community events.
Oversee production and distribution of promotional materials for events.
Support the Managing Director of Development and other regional team members as needed.
Uphold organizational standards and best practices in fundraising.
Attend relevant events and internal meetings within the designated territory.
Work collaboratively with other departments to enhance the effectiveness and reach of fundraising efforts.
Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational mission and development goals.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
At least 2 years of experience in fundraising, event planning, volunteer engagement, public relations, or donor/sponsor cultivation.
Experience managing participants through online fundraising platforms; ability to generate and analyze data-driven outreach plans.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to prioritize and know when to escalate or consult with supervisors.
Clear and professional communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong follow-through.
High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with donor databases (e.g., Donor Pro, Convio) and design software (e.g., Quark, Illustrator, Publisher, Photoshop) is a plus.
Willingness and ability to travel for work as needed.
Salary range: $49,440 – $59,196 annually, depending on primary work location and experience.
