What are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced people Manager with a focuson Infrastructure Engineering, to lead our Certified Component team. This pivotal team is responsible for the design, implementation, and operational excellence of our core data streaming, caching, and processing infrastructure. You will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, scalability, security, performance and cost effectiveness of critical components that power SentinelOne’s global platform.

This role combines strong technical leadership with people management, fostering a high-performance team that builds and maintains foundational services for our entire engineering organization.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and Mentor: Manage, coach, and develop a team of highly skilled infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Vision: Define and execute the roadmap for SentinelOne’s infrastructure, aligning it with the company’s overall goals and product requirements.
  • Architect and Design: Oversee the design and implementation of robust, scalable, and resilient infrastructure services across our multi-cloud environment (AWS, GCP, Azure). Define the roadmap and vision of component evolution.
  • Operational Excellence: Manage the reliability, availability, performance, cost, and security of infrastructure data services. Work with the team to define and monitor SLOs, participate in managerial on-call rotations, and drive post-mortem analysis to implement lasting improvements. Ensure day-to-day operations’ stability and excellence.
  • Automation and Tooling: Champion an “Infrastructure as Code” philosophy, leveraging IAC/GitOps tools (like Terraform/ArgoCD) to automate provisioning, configuration, and operational tasks, reducing toil and increasing efficiency. Drive and explore opportunities to reduce operational overhead by implementing automation and AI integration, which would help the team grow.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product engineering teams, SRE, and other infrastructure teams to understand their requirements, provide expert guidance on data streaming and caching best practices, and facilitate seamless adoption of core components.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize infrastructure services configurations, resource utilization, and underlying infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness at massive scale.
  • Troubleshooting and Incident Management: Lead the swift and effective resolution of complex technical incidents minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous system integrity.
  • Technology Evaluation: Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in distributed messaging and caching systems, evaluating and recommending adoption where beneficial.
  • Documentation: Ensure comprehensive and up-to-date documentation of architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering, with at least 2+ years in a leadership/management role of an infrastructure or SRE team.
  • Ability to manage distributed teams and define clear roadmaps
  • Experience in Scrum/Agile-driven teams management. Sprint/Quarter planning, Priority assignment, and day-to-day operations. Experience with Jira is mandatory.
  • Expertise in data streaming/caching services like Apache Kafka and Redis: hands-on experience designing, deploying, operating, and troubleshooting large-scale Kafka/Redis clusters in production environments. Understanding of Kafka architecture (brokers, topics, partitions, replicas), security (SSL, SASL, ACLs), and performance tuning.Familiarity with Redis data structures and use cases.
  • Cloud Expertise: Significant experience building and operating business-critical infrastructure services in at least one major public cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Understanding of Terraform for managing infrastructure resources. Experience with other IaC tools like Pulumi is a plus.
  • Programming/Scripting Skills: Ability to code in Python, Go, or a similar high-level language for automation and tooling development.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, or similar) and Docker for deploying and managing services.
  • Observability: Practical experience building and operating modern monitoring, logging, and alerting stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Distributed Systems Knowledge: Solid understanding of distributed systems principles, data consistency, and fault tolerance.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: A strong commitment to enabling other engineering teams and ensuring their success through reliable and performant infrastructure.

Bonus Points:

  • Expertise in Database management: Understanding of Database management core principles, experience with PostgreSQL and No-SQL.
  • Experience with other messaging systems or data stores (e.g., Pulsar, Cassandra, ClickHouse).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
