Summary
Join the Materials Engineering Team at Neuralink and contribute to the development of high-density, reliable neural interfaces. As a Materials Intern, you will test materials, manage experiments, and assist with cross-team efforts to build high-throughput testing equipment.
Requirements
- Experience with standard mechanical testing equipment (e.g., tensile tester, DMA)
- Experience with mechanical design (e.g., SolidWorks)
- Understanding of the scientific principles involved in analyzing mechanical tests
- Familiarity with failure analysis and mechanical modeling methods (e.g., FEA, COMSOL)
Responsibilities
- Test materials using a range of characterization and accelerated aging techniques to improve device reliability and longevity
- Manage and execute experiments using characterization and testing platforms to determine root-cause failure modes of medical devices
- Assist with various cross-team efforts to build high-throughput testing equipment for evaluating yield and longevity such as use-case accelerated aging testing and mechanical fatigue
- Use experimental instruments such as dynamic mechanical analyzers and electrochemical probestations
- Model properties and longevity of materials using finite elements or similar type of analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DMA, TMA, and/or other mechanical related testing equipment
- Experience with instrument operational software in addition to hardware for mechanical testing equipment
- Experience troubleshooting lab instrumentation for mechanical and electrochemical analysis
