About the role:
As an Onboarding Bookkeeper, you’ll play a key role in helping new members set up their financial systems from the ground up. You’ll work alongside our Onboarding Accountants to build out clean, accurate books, transition payroll systems, and deliver members’ first set of financial reports. Your work ensures each new member has a strong foundation and a seamless start with us.
What you’ll do:
- Build Complete catch-up and clean-up bookkeeping to bring member accounts up to date
- Establish accurate opening balances from the prior year, including balance sheet rebuilds for Remain SC members
- Support payroll setup, including historical adjustments and mid-year transitions from previous payroll systems to Gusto
- Prepare and publish initial Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports for new members
- Review financials for accuracy and collaborate with accountants to resolve discrepancies
- Communicate with members via email to gather documents and provide onboarding updates
- Assist Onboarding Bookkeepers and Accountants by answering questions and providing guidance
- Contribute to improving onboarding workflows and developing accounting protocols
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience as a bookkeeper or accountant
- Strong technical skills and proficiency with accounting software
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and consistently deliver high-quality work
- Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities, and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote environment
- A people-first attitude with a desire to support both members and teammates
