Are you a motivated and driven leader who can work collaboratively across key Energy markets in the Middle East, to help us win and deliver an amazingly varied portfolio of projects, to grow our business profitably and make a positive contribution in meeting the region’s NetZero targets?
Our middle east business is truly unique. No other company covers the range of energy markets we do, from nuclear to thermal power to renewables and hydrogen, and our project variety ranges from high-end advisory through to EPC(M) on nuclear projects in the region.
Join us as an Operations & Commercial Director and be part of the main leadership team of the business, and you’ll have a hugely influential role in how we execute a variety of contract types. Working closely with colleagues, clients, stakeholders and contractors, you’ll also enjoy opportunities to manage and grow multidisciplinary teams in delivering such projects. You will work closely with our local clients, collaborating with our various market leaders regionally and driving delivery from other subject matter experts and delivery teams in UAE, UK, Canada and India.
Responsibilities:
To help bring a strong sense of project and commercial management to our very wide range of technical project types, and to help
To be the teams guiding mind in how we can enter into more complex contracting or consortium arrangements on much bigger projects than the team is used to
To help bring about transformational change and create the conditions for people to grow and develop themselves in order to grow our project portfolio. This may include a combination of upskilling, recruitment, partnering, use of global Atkins resources and other strategic growth options.
You’ll constantly be looking for ways to improve how we deliver our projects, overseeing planning efforts at various stages and evaluating project cost and schedule performance to identify potential risk areas, validate forecasts, and communicate those quickly to key stakeholders.
Be involved in the strategic and tactical direction of the business with regards to identifying developing and managing key opportunities and client accounts
Take on project director responsibilities for our more complex projects
Negotiate contacting arrangements with clients and partners, and be our primary focal point for such matters
Coach and mentor our more junior staff in becoming more rounded and competent Project Managers
If you’re able to be involved in the technical delivery of our work, that’s even better.
Qualifications:
At least 12 years of commercial and/or project management experience
Proven ability to lead complex tenders and projects, managing conflict and providing resolution using a combination of technical skills, leadership, teamwork, and people management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with sound commercial awareness.
Experience in consulting and consortium arrangements in the energy sector.
We are not looking for those with pure EPC experience. Nuclear experience will be preferable.
