As an Accounting and Payroll Specialist, you will play a crucial role in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with accounting and tax regulations. You will be responsible for recording transactions, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and overseeing payroll administration. Working in our international technology company, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain accurate financial records, streamline accounting processes, and enhance reporting efficiency. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in financial analysis and accounting standards to support decision-making, improve financial accuracy, and contribute to the overall success of the organization.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactiveAccounting and Payroll Specialistto support our daily financial operations and month-end close processes. This role will have a strong focus on our operations in Mexico and requires a solid understanding of Mexican labor laws and tax compliance.

A working knowledge of international accounting standards such as NIIF, US GAAP, and IFRS is important, as you’ll be supporting a globally distributed team and helping ensure consistency in reporting across regions.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll & Compliance – Mexico

  • Run end-to-end payroll for Mexico-based employees, including salary calculations, bonuses, variable compensation, and deductions.

  • Ensure full compliance with Mexican labor laws, tax obligations, and social security requirements (IMSS, INFONAVIT, SAT, FONACOT, etc.).

  • Prepare and submit required monthly and annual payroll reports, including CFDIs, tax filings, and employer declarations.

  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes related to payroll: employee registration, termination settlements, and severance calculations (finiquitos, liquidaciones).

  • Administer benefits programs such as food vouchers, private health insurance, and employee cards, ensuring proper documentation and reporting.

  • Serve as liaison with external payroll providers or accountants to guarantee accurate and timely submissions.

  • Stay current with labor law changes, tax reforms, and compliance updates that may impact payroll operations.

General Accounting & Financial Operations

  • Review, categorize, and reconcile financial transactions.

  • Support invoicing, bill payments, and reimbursement processes across the organization.

  • Assist with employee programs, ensuring compliance with internal policies and proper documentation.

Requirements:

  • +3 years of experience in accounting, payroll, and financial operations, with a strong understanding of local regulations.

  • Familiarity with NIIF, US GAAP, and/or IFRS frameworks, with the ability to apply this knowledge in daily operations and financial reporting.

  • Proficient with cloud-based financial and HR tools (experience with specific platforms is a plus).

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities independently.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote environment with cross-functional teams.
