Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall Plant Management: Oversee the complete operation of the desalination facility, ensuring optimal functionality and efficiency in all areas. This includes daily operations, maintenance, process optimization, and regulatory compliance.
  • Safety and Environmental Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to all safety, health, environmental, and quality standards. Implement and maintain safety programs, conduct regular inspections, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Staff Supervision and Coordination: Lead, manage, and coordinate the activities of all plant personnel, including operations, maintenance, technical, and administrative teams. Foster a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor plant performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to optimize production efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall plant performance.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage plant budgets, control operational costs, and ensure financial sustainability. Identify cost-saving opportunities, track expenditures, and prepare financial reports.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement and manage comprehensive preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime, extend asset life, and optimize plant reliability and availability.
  • Water Quality Assurance: Ensure that the produced water consistently meets or exceeds all regulatory requirements and quality standards. Implement rigorous quality control measures and conduct regular water quality testing.
  • Emergency Response: Develop, implement, and maintain robust emergency response procedures to effectively manage and mitigate potential risks and incidents. Conduct regular drills and training exercises to ensure preparedness.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or a closely related field) is required. A Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration is preferred.

  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in water treatment/desalination operations, with at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory role, is required.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge and understanding of Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology, as well as other relevant water treatment processes, is essential.

  • Process Control: Experience with SCADA systems, process control, and automation is required.

  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are essential for effective team management and stakeholder engagement.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of HSE regulations and industry best practices is required.

  • 5+ years with containerized/portable systems

Additional Information

Technical Expertise Required:

  • Containerized Plant Knowledge:

  • Experience with portable/containerized desalination units modular systems (500-2000 m3/day per container)

  • Multi-train system operation and optimization

  • Plug-and-play system installation and commissioning

Budget & Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage annual OPEX/CAPEX budgets

  • Track and optimize operational costs

  • Monitor chemical and spare parts inventory costs

  • Implement cost-saving initiatives

  • Prepare financial reports and forecasts

  • Analyze and control utility consumption costs

  • Manage maintenance and replacement budgets

  • Cost-benefit analysis for plant improvements

  • Vendor negotiation and contract management

  • ROI analysis for proposed upgrades

  • Spare parts inventory optimization

  • Equipment lifecycle management

  • Strategic Planning: Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to achieve long-term organizational goals.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and analyze problems, develop creative solutions, and implement effective corrective actions.

  • Financial Management: Ability to manage budgets, control costs, and ensure financial sustainability.

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth technical knowledge and expertise in water treatment and desalination processes.

  • Risk Management: Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks to ensure operational continuity and safety.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Ability to effectively communicate and engage with stakeholders at all levels, including employees, customers, regulators, and community members.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to stay in Amalaa during O&M duration 247 (remote location)

  • Driving License

  • English language proficiency language
