About the Role (your why)
As a Product Manager for Datapay - our flagship SaaS payroll solution - you will play a critical role in shaping the future of how businesses manage payroll. You will be responsible for driving the day-to-day execution and delivery of Datapay, ensuring it remains a market-leading, reliable, and intuitive product for our customers.
Working at the intersection of technology, design, and business, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate our strategic goals into actionable product initiatives. Your work will directly impact thousands of users by helping streamline compliance, reduce admin burdens, and improve the overall payroll experience.

What you will bring
- Familiarity with New Zealand payroll rules and process
- Knowledge of how to create and refine roadmaps, iteration goals and preparing the work ready for the squad to deliver on.
- Experience in leading and facilitating a squad to deliver to your roadmap.
- Awareness with Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and their alignment with company goals.
- Basic understanding of software architecture and the tech stack within the product area to ensure cohesive functionality.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools for backlog management and analytics
- Solid analytical skills with a foundation in both qualitative and quantitative analysis for data-driven decision-making.
- Experience in collaborating with senior stakeholders to ensure alignment with broader team and company goals.
- Experience in managing relationships with stakeholders across different teams and product squads.
- Humility and Leadership: The humility to listen and learn, kindness in practice, and the hallmarks of a leader who inspires and supports their squad.
Responsibilities
- Squad Leadership: Lead and manage a squad with a servant leadership approach, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engagement.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with delivery teams and quickly escalate issues when progress stalls.
- Developing and communicating a clear product vision while collaborating on Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) that align with company goals.
- Requirements Analysis: Proficient in eliciting and analysing both functional and technical requirements.
- Conducting market analysis and user research to inform the product roadmap
- Managing stakeholder relationships to support product launches
- Leading discovery processes to prioritise development tasks, analyse product performance data, and write Product Backlog Items (PBIs)
- Utilising Agile methodologies, you will drive timely project delivery, validate ideas through prototyping.
- Conduct post-launch analyses to continuously improve the product and meet organisational objectives.
