Hypergiant is partnering with SkillBridge to offer internships for qualified transitioning military members in professions such as Software Engineering, UX/UI Design, Data Engineering, Project Management, and more. During this program service members will work primarily remote with his or her host company, performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level role on a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.

Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training.

Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly trained and capable future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet Hypergiant’s mission “Know Tomorrow, Act Today” on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on Hypergiant’s leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Product Manager to join our team, focused on providing software and technology solutions for the Department of Defense (DoD). The ideal candidate will have a background in product management, with strong experience in the DoD and a deep understanding of the value streams associated with complex DOD kill chains.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:

  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Act as a SkillBridge Intern you’ll be working as a Product Manager for the Hypergiant DOD product.  You’ll be intimately involved with the ABMS and Overmatch product owners/manager, DoD stakeholders, including senior military leaders, program managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the DoD’s mission, priorities, and key initiatives, and translate that knowledge into product requirements and roadmaps.
  • Work closely with ABMS and Overmatch team of teams, including engineering, design, and data science, to define product features, prioritize development, and ensure successful delivery of the required training documents.
  • Collaborate with sales and business development teams to identify new opportunities and develop go-to-market strategies that align with DoD requirements.
  • Ensure that products meet or exceed DoD security, compliance, and performance standards, and work closely with internal teams and external auditors to maintain compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 + years of Command and Control, Air Battle Management, Naval Flight Officer (NFO) Combat Information Center Officer (CICO)/Mission Commander (MC), Surface Warfare Officer (SWO), Army Air Defense Artillery Officer (ADAFCO), and Fires Support Coordinator (FSCOORD) or a minimum of 5 years of experience in product/program management in the DOD industry
  • Exposure to Combatant Command and Operational Command and Control such as the G3/G2, Maritime Operations Center (MOC), Air Operations Center (AOC), National Space Defense Center (NSDC), Combined Space Operations Center (CSpOC)
  • SME level exposure classified kill chains like the Neptune series, Weapons School Integration, WTI, Top Gun, Red Flag, Northern Edge, Valliant Shield, and/or Orange Flag.
  • Desired graduate of one of the following schools: Air Force Weapons School (USAFWS), Navy Top Gun, Marines Weapons and Tactics Instructor (WTI), USSF Software Development Immersive (SDI)
  • Experience working with DoD stakeholders at all levels, including military leaders, program managers, and subject matter experts on Software Acquisition Pathway (SwAP) programs, namely ABMS, Kessel Run, Space Camp, Kobayashi Maru, Army Software Factory
  • Demonstrated success in developing and launching software products in a DoD environment, specifically Cloud Based Command and Control/Advanced Battle Management System (CBC2), Project Overmatch, Project Convergence
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Active DoD Top Secret/SCI preferred
