About Us:

CALSTART is a mission-driven industry organization focused on transportation decarbonization and clean air for all.

For over 30 years, it’s been CALSTART’s mission to develop, assess, and implement large-scale, zero-emission transportation solutions to mitigate climate change and support economic growth. CALSTART works with businesses, organizations, governments, and communities to create real-life impact toward clean air and equitable access to clean transportation for all. CALSTART provides scientific, technical and policy support for regulatory development and clean technology and infrastructure acceleration.

About the Role:

The Project Manager, TNCs, plays a critical role in advancing transportation decarbonization by driving the electrification of rideshare platforms like Uber and Lyft. Reporting to the Program Director, this position is responsible for managing a portfolio of projects, overseeing budgets, contracts, data analysis, and leading internal and external teams to ensure project success. By electrifying TNCs, which log significantly higher mileage than the average vehicle, this role directly contributes to reducing emissions, improving air quality, and delivering cost savings to drivers.  This position offers the opportunity to lead transformative projects in a dynamic, impactful sector. Ideal candidates will leverage their expertise in zero-emission mobility solutions, project management, and data-driven decision-making to optimize program outcomes. If you’re passionate about advancing sustainable transportation and enjoy collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious goals, this role provides a compelling platform to make a measurable difference.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Coordinate with partners during and between meetings, proactively ensuring deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collaborate with partners to gather relevant data and disseminate insights to stakeholders, enhancing program outcomes.
  • Reporting: Summarize progress, findings, and key metrics for regular project deliverables and reports (e.g., weekly, monthly, and quarterly).
  • System Development and Optimization: Continuously improve systems and processes to enhance program effectiveness and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of professional experience in transportation decarbonization projects (e.g., EVs, charging infrastructure), community engagement, data management, research, and analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams with strong organizational skills, proactive problem-solving, and effective communication.
  • A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Public Policy, Public Administration, Computer Science, Statistics, Economics, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in zero-emission mobility solutions, project management, community engagement, data management, research, data visualization, and report development.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proven knowledge of or experience working with transportation network companies (e.g., Uber, Lyft), including familiarity with their operations and impact on transportation systems.
  • Awareness and understanding of regulations such as the Clean Miles Standard and ACCII, as well as broader clean transportation policies.
  • Policy experience, including advocating for the adoption of clean transportation initiatives in new regions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple large groups, fostering collaboration and maintaining alignment across diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with expertise in setting and maintaining project timelines to achieve program goals.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, particularly in developing clear, compelling reports, presentations, and stakeholder communications.
