Job description

About Us

Hungryroot is using AI to build the most consumer-centric food and wellness company to ever exist. We are your personal assistant for healthy living. We get to know your goals, lifestyle, and budget, and we recommend and deliver healthy groceries, easy recipes and essential supplements for you and your family. It’s the easiest way to eat healthy, achieve your goals, save time, and discover new foods. Founded on the belief that food is the foundation of health, convenience should not mean compromise, and we’re all unique in how we eat and live, Hungryroot is building a future in which healthy living is easy and enjoyable.

We are a distributed team built on top talent from over 28 states across the U.S. While we have a headquarters in New York City, we support employees working from wherever they are based. We believe in fostering team connection and collaboration across all of our employees’ locations. Expect to attend regular team building events and an annual company retreat. Expect to be treated like an owner who cares about our common goal, not someone who has to clock in and out of work.

About the Role

Hungryroot is seeking a highly-motivated, strategic and data-driven Senior Associate, Business Analytics to elevate how we use insights to shape our food assortment and drive key business outcomes. This high-impact role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys turning complex data into clear recommendations.

You’ll specialize in linking the performance of our food and recipe assortment to key financial metrics, helping drive data-informed decisions across the business. A core focus will be identifying trends across key customer segments like household size, dietary preferences, and ordering behavior, ultimately helping to curate an assortment that attracts and retains high-value customers. The role partners closely with the Food Experience team and collaborates with Marketing, Product, and Operations to deliver a holistic view of our food-related drivers and opportunities.

This role sits within the Analytics & Finance team, which owns central analytics, strategic insights, and key performance metrics across the business. We’re a detail-oriented, analytical group that supports leadership with clear, data-driven guidance—combining historical trends and forward-looking analysis to drive decision-making. We thrive on solving complex problems and turning data into actionable insights.

Important: This is a hands-on role! At Hungryroot, we are all technical individual contributors in our respective fields and as such, this role requires a deep understanding of complex SQL queries and on occasion, new table / schema builds.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the financial impact of products and recipes on key metrics such as reorder rates and average order value
  • Segment performance insights by customer behavior (e.g. household size, dietary needs, ordering patterns) to guide assortment strategy
  • Identify performance drivers and set financial goals by category
  • Expand our regular reporting on food-related metrics, including weekly/monthly reviews with senior and executive leadership
  • Analyze the performance of brand partnerships to quantify the value delivered through various marketing tactics and demonstrate ROI to partner brands
  • Lead proactive analysis of market, competitive, and internal trends to identify risks and opportunities
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering to align on standardized business and technical definitions
  • Drive continuous improvements across processes, tools, and reporting

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience in strategic analytics, data analytics or BizOps at a high-growth company
  • Experience using and building dashboards in Looker or similar BI tool
  • Advanced SQL skills, with an ability to create new tables / schemas on an ad hoc basis
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate insights and information to our most senior executives
  • Hyper organized project manager; self-driven motivation with a high degree of organization, efficiency, and attention to detail
  • Bachelor’s Degree and a record of academic excellence

Nice to haves

  • D2C experience
  • Python

Perks & Benefits

  • Remote-first: work from home, work from our NYC office, work from anywhere in the U.S. - you decide!

  • Monthly Hungryroot credit for delicious, healthy groceries
  • Comprehensive health, vision, dental, and life insurance
  • Wellbeing benefits including One Medical, Spring Health, LiveHealth, Rightway care concierge, and more
