About Blockchain & Climate Institute
We were founded in 2016 as a not-for-profit organization. We combine the roles of a think-and-do tank, an advocacy group, and a chamber of commerce.
Our “super-connector” platform helps policymakers, corporate executives, and blockchain innovators explore and adopt blockchain solutions for climate sustainability. We specialize in areas like blockchain, climate change, carbon markets, impact investment, carbon offsets, carbon pricing, biodiversity, green finance, sustainable finance, carbon registration, green hydrogen, distributed ledger technology, and clean energy access. Our work involves raising awareness of blockchain technology’s potential for climate action and facilitating its deployment.
Our operational activities include managing and expanding our WordPress website to improve communication and global visibility. We also provide legal guidance across our divisions to minimize risks related to employment, contracts, privacy, and competition law. We strengthen global governance, accreditation strategy, and institutional accountability, supporting engagement with multilateral institutions. Additionally, we manage financial operations, including data collection, analysis, reporting, budgeting, and ensuring VAT compliance for our climate policy work.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to raise awareness within the international climate change policy community about blockchain technology’s potential to improve climate actions.
Our vision is the widespread use of blockchain, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT) in climate sustainability efforts by both state and non-state actors.
Team & Culture
We are an international, volunteer-led organization with 51-200 individuals. We operate in a remote, home-based environment, encouraging collaboration with international teams while also expecting individuals to work independently.
