Sr. BI Developer - Contract 4 - 6 months
We are seeking an experienced Senior BI Developer with 8+ years of expertise in Business Intelligence to build interactive and impactful dashboards from existing datasets. This contract position offers a dynamic opportunity for a skilled developer to leverage their knowledge and create visualizations that drive data-driven decision-making. Strong ETL and data integration experience is key, along with comfort working in cloud-based data environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop Interactive Dashboards: Design and implement visually appealing, user-friendly dashboards using provided datasets.
- Data Analysis: Analyze and validate existing data to ensure accuracy and relevance in all dashboard outputs.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and incorporate feedback into dashboard design.
- Performance Optimization: Ensure dashboards are optimized for performance, scalability, and ease of use.
- Documentation & Reporting: Provide clear documentation on dashboard functionality and usage, along with recommendations for future enhancements.
- Support Data Integration: Build and maintain ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from multiple sources.
- Team Collaboration: Participate in Agile sprints and help resolve data/reporting issues as part of a collaborative DataOps team.

Qualifications
Education and Experience
- 8+ years of experience in Business Intelligence development
- Strong knowledge of data visualization best practices and data storytelling
- Proven ability to work with various data sources (e.g., SQL, Excel) to integrate and visualize data
- Experience designing high-performance, interactive dashboards that are both functional and visually compelling
- Excellent communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and translating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience building curated datasets (e.g., data lakes, data marts, cubes) to support analytics
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Azure tools, including Data Lake, Databricks, Synapse, and Data Factory
- Experience with Power BI, SQL Server (SSIS, SSRS), Snowflake, Fivetran, and dbt
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Python for data transformation is a plus
- Experience with Denodo (data virtualization) is a plus
Work Environment:
- Remote work from home.
- Hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday. Specific business hours will depend on client needs.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- The person in this position must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, library stacks, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with clients and coworkers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
