Product Owner / Business Analyst - Contract

We are seeking a Product Owner / Business Analyst to join our team on a contract basis. This hybrid role is ideal for someone who combines strong business analysis capabilities with experience in Agile product ownership. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to define business and system requirements, manage backlog priorities, and help ensure successful solution delivery within a SAFe or Agile environment.

This is an entry-level to mid-level role with an emphasis on process analysis, stakeholder collaboration, and agile delivery, perfect for someone who understands the technical landscape but thrives on solving business problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Product Owner on one or more Agile teams, representing stakeholder needs and managing the team backlog
  • Gather, document, and validate business and technical requirements for system enhancements and new features
  • Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional documentation
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, team standups, reviews, retrospectives, and PI planning
  • Collaborate closely with developers, QA, stakeholders, and external vendors to ensure successful product delivery
  • Assist with testing and validation activities, ensuring that deliverables meet defined requirements and business goals
  • Continuously refine and prioritize the product backlog in collaboration with stakeholders and Product Managers
  • Analyze and improve business processes, helping to streamline operations and enhance the user experience
  • Provide support to end-users and technical teams for ongoing system functionality, including issue analysis and troubleshooting
  • Maintain system and project documentation, and support training efforts as needed

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or hybrid role
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks such as Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework)
  • Experience writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and managing Agile backlogs
  • Familiarity with tools such as Azure DevOps, JIRA, or similar
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills; able to translate between technical and business audiences
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and external vendors
  • Healthcare industry experience is a plus
  • SAFe or Agile certification (e.g., CSPO, SAFe POPM) is a plus but not required

Work Environment:

  • Remote work from home.
  • Hours of work and days are generally Monday through Friday. Specific business hours will depend on client needs.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  • The person in this position must occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, library stacks, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with clients and coworkers. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
