Coffman Engineers is seeking a highly skilled, self-motivated, technically minded Senior Civil Engineer (eight to fifteen+ years) to join our team in applying engineering skills to challenging, rewarding projects. This position includes site design engineering and travel to projects across the country focused on resilience, energy, and sustainability. Project types may include Battery Energy Storage System (BESS); Microgrids; Hydrogen; Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS); Electric Vehicle (EV) and Fleet Charging; Biomass; Solar Photovoltaic (PV); and Wind Energy. Site design experience in the energy market sector is not a requirement, but interest in the project types is encouraged. The successful candidate will be an outgoing, enthusiastic self-starter, with a desire to work and grow with a multidiscipline engineering team and be willing to have fun! This successful candidate will be tasked with leading site design, permitting, mentoring and leading civil engineers and drafters, and coordinating with clients, jurisdictions, and counterparts across other offices. This position is in-person from the Spokane office with an option for hybrid work (Thursdays & Fridays). Out-of-town travel will be needed 5%-10% of the time.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Current registration as a Civil Professional Engineer (PE) required
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in Civil Engineering site development required
- An interest in supporting site development for energy and sustainability focused sites
- Engineering experience with design, permitting, and construction administration
- Availability to travel as needed for site visits and meetings
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic calculations; technical studies; and preparation of site or public improvement grading, stormwater management, and utility plans preferred
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred
- Ability to lead projects independently and collaborate with other team members
- Effective technical writing and communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- A positive attitude with a focus on team and client success
Expected annual salary range depending on experience: $106,000-$134,000+
