Proof of work

The team

At Kraken Digital Asset Exchange, our Compliance team plays a key role in accelerating the global adoption of crypto. We ensure our platform and products are built on a robust, forward-thinking compliance framework that gives clients the confidence and peace of mind to engage with crypto safely and securely.

We are looking for a new Senior Compliance Associate to join our Compliance team remotely in Ireland. As our new team member specialising in the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), you will take on a key role within our Europe-focused Compliance team. Additionally, you will have the unique opportunity to shape the company’s regulatory strategy in the EU, ensuring alignment with MiCA obligations and broader regulatory developments across the region.

We are searching for someone who is curious, thorough, and confident in taking ownership of a diverse range of tasks, from policy development to regulatory engagement and beyond. Reporting to the Head of Compliance, this is a unique opportunity for someone with strong regulatory knowledge who is ready to make a real impact in the crypto space from the driver’s seat.

The opportunity

  • Provide expert guidance on MiCA compliance, supporting the team in interpreting regulatory obligations and aligning internal practices accordingly.

  • Refine and operationalise compliance policies and procedures to meet MiCA and broader EU regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor and interpret upcoming regulatory developments across the EU, contributing to the enterprise’s regulatory horizon scanning efforts.

Develop and deliver targeted compliance training to staff, ensuring they understand and meet their regulatory obligations.

  • Support internal reporting by preparing clear, reliable management information for senior business leaders.

  • Assist in the development and review of compliance-related policies and procedures.

  • Support the management of regulatory inquiries and exams, including document and data retrieval.

  • Act as a trusted partner to Product, Design, Engineering, and Go-To-Market teams, helping them structure and launch products and services with the appropriate controls.

Skills you should HODL

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial services compliance, ideally with exposure to crypto-assets, fintech, or digital financial services.

  • Solid comprehension of the EU regulatory landscape, with knowledge of MICA/EMI/MiFID or CBI. Ideally, you have worked hands-on filling for a MiCA licence.

  • Proven cross-functional communication skills, with experience working alongside internal teams and external business partners, including regulators and law enforcement agencies.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work both independently and collaboratively in a cross-border team.

  • High professional integrity, sound judgment, and a proactive, hands-on mindset.

  • Legal or regulatory qualifications (e.g., LLM, CAMS, ICA) are a plus.

  • Experience working with or within a National Competent Authority is advantageous.

  • You believe wholeheartedly in the cypherpunk, libertarian values outlined in Kraken’s Tentaclements.

  • Fluent in English and based in Ireland.
