ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Senior Data Scientist, reporting to the Senior Manager, Data Science, will play a key role in supporting Plusgrade’s Data Strategy, a cornerstone of our organizational growth. As the Senior Data Scientist, they will research, develop and deploy top-tier modeling solutions across our entire partner ecosystem. They will harness data science methodologies to solve complex business challenges. They will provide guidance and collaborate with fellow data scientists to help achieve the goals of various business areas.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

• Research, design, test, and implement innovative machine learning algorithms and advanced data science methodologies to optimize real-time offer allocation, improve personalization strategies, and enhance targeting and offer assignments for our marketing engine.

• Drive the development of cutting-edge algorithms that balance business constraints, customer behaviour, and engagement objectives to ensure optimal, data-driven offer assignments.

• Design and enhance models to develop scalable solutions, ensuring their applicability across products, partners, and diverse data environments.

• Leverage various data sources (e.g., partner, product, performance, and 3rd party) to enrich algorithms and demonstrate measurable business impact.

• Continuously innovate by researching, designing, testing, and improving algorithms for dynamic offer allocation, including exploration of multi-armed bandit approaches, contextual optimization techniques, and reinforcement learning.

• Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish best practices for developing, automating, and standardizing advanced data science solutions, specifically focusing on real-time applications.

• Champion adopting scalable, automated solutions by working with Data Science Team Leads to integrate algorithms into production systems through rapid iteration and testing.

YOU ARE SOMEONE WITH:

• Over five years of experience researching, designing, and developing machine learning algorithms, with a strong focus on solving real-world business problems.

• Expertise in developing algorithms for real-time decision-making or dynamic optimization problems, such as offer allocation, pricing, or recommender systems.

• Proficiency in machine learning, big data technologies, predictive analytics, and optimization techniques, including experience with contextual bandits, multi-armed bandits, or reinforcement learning.

• Strong programming skills in Python, with hands-on experience using machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.

• Advanced SQL skills and familiarity with relational databases, enabling efficient manipulation of large and complex datasets.

• The ability to conceptualize, design, and communicate complex algorithms to technical and non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.

• Innate curiosity to solve complex problems, derive actionable insights and iterate on innovative solutions.

• Strong business acumen and an ability to align data science initiatives with commercial goals, ensuring measurable business impact.

• A Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related discipline.
