We are looking for a talented and driven Senior Platform Engineer to join our team and help us continue to build the future of fantasy sports.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be a key player in designing, building, and maintaining the scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure that underpins all of our products and services. You will collaborate closely with software development teams to enhance developer experience, automate deployments, and ensure our platforms meet the highest standards of performance and availability. This is a high-impact, strategic role perfect for someone who enjoys solving complex problems at scale and empowering engineering teams to deliver exceptional software.

What you’ll do:

  • Design and Architect: Lead the design and architecture of scalable, resilient, and secure cloud-native platforms and infrastructure on cloud platforms like AWS and GCP.
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop, manage, and champion the use of IaC tools like Terraform and Crossplane to automate infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • CI/CD and Automation: Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD to automate the build, testing, and deployment of applications, enabling faster and more reliable software delivery.
  • Containerization and Orchestration: Manage and scale our containerized environments using technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. You will also be proficient with Helm for packaging applications and Kustomize for configuration management.
  • Monitoring and Observability: Implement and manage robust monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) to ensure system health and proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify problems, develop and implement solutions, and drive innovation to improve infrastructure performance, stability, and efficiency.Operations and Maintenance: Participate on on-call rotation to provide support for production infrastructure and respond to incidents.
  • Collaboration and Support: Work closely with development teams to provide self-service tools and platforms, troubleshoot complex issues, and act as a subject matter expert for our infrastructure.
  • Security: Implement and enforce security best practices, conduct security assessments, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

What you have:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Experience:

    • 4+ years of experience in a Platform Engineer, DevOps, or SRE role, with a proven track record of working on large-scale, distributed systems.
    • Deep technical experience with a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP).
    • Extensive hands-on experience with Terraform and/or Crossplane.
    • Strong proficiency with containerization ( Docker) and container orchestration ( Kubernetes).
    • Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with GitHub Actions and ArgoCD.
    • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible.
  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages such as Python, Go, or Bash.
    • Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix administration and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
    • Experience with observability tools (like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog).
    • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

What makes you stand out:

  • Solid understanding of networking principles (e.g., VPCs, load balancing, firewalls) in a cloud environment.
  • Experience with ArgoWorkflows and ArgoCD.
  • Experience building and managing internal developer platforms (IDPs).
  • Familiarity with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
  • Knowledge of database management (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator, Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer).

The typical salary range for this position is $120,000 to $185,000. At PrizePicks, we consider your role, level, and where you’ll be working when determining our salary ranges. The compensation info you see on our job postings gives you an idea of the starting pay range for the position. Your actual pay within that range will depend on your specific work location, as well as your skills, experience, and education.
