Job description
About Vercel:
Vercel gives developers the tools and cloud infrastructure to build, scale, and secure a faster, more personalized web. As the team behind v0, Next.js, and AI SDK, Vercel helps customers like Ramp, Supreme, PayPal, and Under Armour build for the AI-native web.
Our mission is to enable the world to ship the best products. That starts with creating a place where everyone can do their best work. Whether you’re building on our platform, supporting our customers, or shaping our story: You can just ship things.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a senior communicator who’s fluent in developer culture and confident navigating the evolving landscape of modern product comms. This role blends product storytelling with community insight and influencer engagement. You’ll shape how we talk about what we’re building by crafting compelling narratives and distributing them through the channels that matter most to developers today.
This is not traditional comms. It’s fast, iterative, channel-native, and community-driven. If you think like a strategist, write like an editor, and move like a creator, you’ll thrive here.
If you’re based within a pre-determined commuting distance of one of our offices (SF, NY, London, or Berlin), the role includes in-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. If you’re located beyond that distance, the role is fully remote. For location-specific details, please connect with our recruiting team.
Why This Role Matters:
Developers don’t want a press release. They want clarity, utility, and relevance delivered at the right moment, in the right place, by the right people. It’s a key function on the comms team with high visibility, strong cross-functional support, and room to grow.
What You Will Do:
Build a Developer-Native Comms Playbook
- Create and operationalize a scalable communications framework—from launch briefings and product updates to social-first campaigns and narrative arcs.
- Ensure product messages are built to flex across formats—from technical blog posts and patch notes to short-form video and social threads.
Craft Stories that Developers Care About
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and DevRel to translate roadmap milestones into stories that resonate with builders.
- Elevate feature releases with positioning that highlights real-world use, speed, performance, and community impact.
Grow and Activate a Network of Influencers
- Cultivate strong relationships with technical creators, streamers, and builders who shape developer opinion.
- Create programs that give trusted voices early access, clear context, and content-ready materials to share launches in their own words.
Lead with Channel Intelligence
- Know what formats land on X, YouTube, Discord, and newsletters—and build for them from the start.
- Own end-to-end planning and execution of comms strategies across developer-first and community-led channels.
Bring the Community Closer to the Product
- Use community feedback to inform communications priorities and narrative clarity.
- Spot emerging conversations, memes, and product moments—and help us participate with speed and credibility.
About You:
- 7+ years of experience in product communications, community engagement, editorial, or dev-focused marketing.
- Deep understanding of developer culture and fluency in modern dev platforms and social ecosystems.
- A track record of simplifying complex technical topics without dumbing them down.
- Experience working directly with product and engineering teams.
- Clear writing, sharp instincts, and the ability to move quickly and autonomously.
- Bonus: experience working with or as a technical creator, developer advocate, or community lead.
Benefits:
- Competitive compensation package, including equity.
- Inclusive Healthcare Package.
- Learn and Grow - we provide mentorship and send you to events that help you build your network and skills.
- Flexible Time Off.
- We will provide you the gear you need to do your role, and a WFH budget for you to outfit your space as needed.
The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $148,000 - $222,000. Actual salary will be based on job-related skills, experience, and location. Compensation outside of San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location, and the total package includes benefits and equity-based compensation. Your recruiter can share more details during the hiring process.
