We are looking for a strategic and data-driven Sr. Manager, Strategic Insights & Data Science to join our Analytics, Insights, and Pricing (AIP) team within Finance, Strategy & Insights (FS&I). In this role, you’ll drive data science initiatives that influence decision-making across the business. You’ll work closely with executive stakeholders to surface insights from customer segmentation, econometric modeling, and supply-demand optimization. This is a high-impact opportunity to help shape marketplace strategy, improve forecasting accuracy, and advance our understanding of user behaviors across the platform.

Responsibilities

  • Guide cross-functional stakeholders through complex problem-solving initiatives that directly influence Upwork’s business strategies

  • Lead the design and application of advanced analytics methodologies including marketing mix models and customer segmentation

  • Translate technical analyses into compelling business narratives and recommendations for executive leadership

  • Partner with data engineering to develop and enhance shared data assets such as feature stores and analytics pipelines

  • Drive forecasting and scenario modeling to support strategic planning and operational decisions

  • Collaborate with product, marketing, and marketplace teams to measure performance and identify growth opportunities

  • Establish and maintain best practices in analytics, modeling, and data storytelling across the AIP team

What it takes to catch our eye

  • 3-5+ years of experience in top-tier management consulting or strategic analytics roles with a proven track record of influencing business outcomes through insights

  • Ability to structure ambiguous problems and design rigorous, hypothesis-driven approaches to analysis

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills with the ability to clearly convey complex ideas to diverse audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships with cross-functional partners and drive alignment around strategic recommendations

  • A proactive, agile mindset with a passion for ownership and operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

The annual base salary range for this position  is displayed below. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.

$175,500—$277,500 USD
